Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to work in the school setting in the Banning, CA area. The SLPA assists the Speech Language Pathologist in providing speech and language services. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will have clinical, educational, documentation, and treatment related activities while working within the scope of responsibilities/ plan of care assigned by the Speech Language Pathologist and/or physician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides components of a speech and language program as specified in the treatment plan developed by a supervising SLP in accordance with the physician’s plan of care according to state regulations
Self-identifies as SLPA to families, students, patients, clients, staff and others
Assists the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation
Assists the SLP during assessment of students.
Programs and provides instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices
Provides services under the supervision of the SLP in another language for individuals who do not speak English and English-language learners
May assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP
Reports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition of the patient, client, and student to the supervising SLP and alternate clinical designee as indicated
Maintains communication with the company and other personnel caring for the client, patient, student to assure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care within the scope of practice
May participate in formal care conferences, parent conferences, and intra-disciplinary team meetings only with the presence of the supervising SLP
Supports the supervising SLP in research projects, in-service training, public relations programs and marketing programs
Provides information to emergency response agencies for individuals who have communication and/or swallowing disorders
Exhibits compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act regulations
Actively participates in the required supervision by a SLP to ensure quality of care to all persons served
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a graduate of a SLPA program with an associate’s degree, or have a bachelor’s degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program
Current certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the State of Practice (California)
