About Specialist Project Engineer 1

  L3Harris Corporation is seeking a Specialist, Project Engineer (PE) (Level 3) for the Melbourne/Palm Bay, FL location.   Responsibilities of the Specialist Project Engineer include:

  Serve as the techncial lead of the project/integrated product team (IPT)/product development with cost and schedule responsibility.

  Develops, presents, and delivers comprehensive presentations to the project team, as well as at times to upper management and customer personnel, in a clear and concise manner.

  Assist in successful startup activity, including staffing, robust mitigation plans and establishment of the technical baseline and change management process

  Monitors the product/project from initiation through completion and/or customer acceptance.

  Assits in developing, managing, and maintaining all aspects of project-level risks, including mitigation, costing and planning.

  Planning and management of the products/projects on schedule and within budget constraints.

  Assits in establishment and execution of detailed integrated master schedules

  Work with Subject matter Experts (SME) to estimate resource and material needs for the project/product.

  Work with Project Scheduler to develop, monitor, and status detailed MS Project schedules.

  Work with Finance using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reports to manage project performance.

  Review of earned value metrics such as CPI, SPI, TCPI, and ETC to drive program focus

  Facilitator over design, process, manufacturing, test, and quality as the project/product(s) move to completion and distribution.

  Works with Systems Engineering to ensure that products/projects delivered meet customer requirements and specifications.

  Employee engagement to meet project needs

  Driving a culture of continuous improvement as evidenced by executed improvement projects

  Maintaining forecasted demand signal on resource needs and partnering with the Functional Engineering Managers (EMs), talent acquisition and supply chain on development of plans for accomplishing the engineering work

  Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

  Preferred/Additional Skills:

  Experience executing throughout the project/product or integrated product team (IPT) lifecycle including requirements flow down and allocation, design, development, test, and sell-off

  Competent verbal and written communication skills in a technical information environment

  Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and prioritize workload appropriately.

  Demonstrated methodical approach to their work.

  Demonstrated earned value / cost account management experience

  Demonstrated schedule responsibility experience

  Experience executing throughout the project lifecycle including requirements flow down and allocation, design, development, test, and sell-off.

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a technical information environment.

  Demonstrated Earned value / Cost account management experience, with cost and schedule responsibility experience.

  Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and prioritize workload appropriately.

  Demonstrated methodical approach to their work.

  Broad Engineering experience across multiple technical focus areas a plus

  Proficient with MS project and other MS Office packages

  Functional management experience or direct involvement in resource management forecasting and placement a plus.
