  Job Summary

  Under general supervision, responsible for assisting and leading procurementactivities, including availability, inventory management, and control ofpharmacy purchases. Orders product using best possible source of procurementwith the goal of achieving contract compliance across multiple purchaseaccounts and contracts. Responsible for working within 340B policy and withcooperation of 340B program and financial analysts. Researches backorders andlocates substitute products as necessary. Establish and/or uses reports forreviewing procurement of pharmaceuticals. Orders controlled substances basedon standard process for ordering and in compliance with DEA requirements.

  Essential Functions:

  Ensures that the pharmacy is stocked with essential, formulary-approvedpharmaceuticals, fluids, and supplies and performs all related purchasingduties (25%)Maintains cost effective inventory levels of all formulary drugs, fluids,and supplies based upon financial analytics reporting (20%)Complies with 340B requirements and policy as well as group purchasingcontracts to ensure optimal cost-effectiveness of all purchases (15%)Reviews pharmacy stock for outdates, overstock, and proper storage on aroutine basis to ensure the timely return of outdated items and/orrecommended deletions from formulary based on movement of stock (5%)Management of large volume, floor stock medications, and automateddispensing cabinets as assigned (5%)Reviews drug shortages and escalates to pharmacy leadership as necessary (5%)Ensures that all orders are processed in accordance to pre-establishedguidelines, DHHA policies, and Federal and State Law (5%)Evaluates and corrects invoice discrepancies (5%)Ensures proper filing of purchase orders, invoices, and controlledsubstances forms in compliance with the needs of the department and regulatoryagencies (5%)Uses and operates pharmacy equipment appropriately and when necessary (5%)Other duties as assigned may include but are not limited to pharmacytechnician operations, stocking, unit checks, and teaching ofstudents/interns/resident (5%)Education:

  High School Diploma or GED RequiredWork Experience:

  1-3 years Of pharmacy technician experience or equivalent experienceperforming inventory management in a healthcare-related position Required and1-3 years Pharmacy experience as buyer or inventory specialist, preferredLicenses:

  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  Ability to work independently and with little supervisionKnowledge of inventory management, purchasing and warehousingExcellent communication skills to effectively relay information toco-workers, customers and vendorsAbility to read and follow written instructions and to write proceduresregarding daily activitiesKnowledge of and ability to use proper lifting, pushing, and pullingtechnique to minimize risk of injuryKnowledge of general pharmacy operationsAnalytical thinking, problem solving, and process improvement skillsAbility to disseminate program information, policies, rules and/or regulationsAbility to consistently implement program, department and organizationalpolicies and proceduresDemonstrates exceptional interpersonal, training, negotiating, andcustomer service skills in all interactions with internal and externalhealthcare team membersUnderstands how state and federal laws, regulations, policies andprocedures impact specific job responsibilities and functionsDemonstrates actions to reasonably prevent, detect, and report unethicaland unlawful busi ess practicesProficiency with Microsoft Office requiredProficiency with Epic, preferredProficiency with various internet ordering platforms, preferred
