Job Description
The purpose of this position is to support the Excise Tax team from a technology perspective to aid in system implementation, integration, and configuration for the preparation, filing, and reconciliation of various federal and state motor fuel tax returns.
Prepare monthly tax pre-compliance data manipulation and loading into tax filing software
Maintain tax system jurisdictions and jurisdictional rates based on current law
Examine and evaluate the purpose and content of tax reports to develop new or improve existing report content and completeness
Analyze data for reconciliations to ensure tax liabilities are accurately stated; Reconcile tax accounts, investigate discrepancies, and make recommendations for account resolution; Prepare journal entries as necessary
Develop/Maintain SQL-based queries and IGEN configuration to address ad-hoc and on-going business transformation
Develop and maintain Alteryx scripts in support of data integrations and transformations necessary to enable the automated preparation of returns and reconciliations
Proactively gain knowledge and update tax users with training of new functionality in IGEN/PDI/Alteryx

Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in accounting, finance, or other business-related field
Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Alteryx, SQL)
Specialized Knowledge
Excise Tax Accountant II level or above
Proficient to advanced Microsoft Office skills
SQL Knowledge preferred
