Position: Special Education Teacher/Salida Middle School

　　Duties: ? Provide direct and indirect instructional support tostudents in a positive environment. Employ special educational strategies andtechniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- andperceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory. Instructstudents in academic subjects using a variety of techniques such as phonetics,learning, and repetition to reinforce learning and to meet students'varying needs and interests. Teach socially acceptable behavior, asdetermined by the students individualized education programs (IEPs) byemploying techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system. Modifythe general education curriculum for students with disabilities based upon a vainstructional techniques and technologies. Plan and conduct activities for abalanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time thatprovides students with opportunities to observe, question, andinvestigate. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures formaintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students. Meet withparents to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities fortheir children and their individualized educational needs. They also teachbasic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, Social,Emotional Learning and life skills to students with severe disabilities. Thisposition requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership.Requires substantial organizational and time management skills. Teacher isexpected to participate in district development of curriculum and instruction.

　　Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age; must have driverslicense, pass background and drug test. Selected applicant must verify pastexperience and hold a current Colorado Department of Education teachingcertificate or license with proper endorsement (Generalist EndorsementPreferred).

　　Other Requirements: Successful teaching experience. Preference will begiven to candidates with multiple endorsements. Experience using technology tosupport instruction.

　　Wages: Pay is $42,500.00 annually; paid monthly.

　　Shift: This is a full time position; 32 hours per week. Will work Mondaythrough Thursday, hours to be set by employer. Employer has one position tobegin on August 1st, 2023. Position to remain open until filled.
