  Speaker Design and Development Engineer

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

Ford’s Research and Advanced Engineering team takes new ideas from theory to reality. Every day, we develop advanced energy management and propulsion technologies, create cutting-edge materials and manufacturing processes, and curate world-class cabin experiences that redefine what it means to drive a Ford.

In-vehicle audio systems are critically important to the customer’s experience in our vehicles as Ford transitions from a manufacturer of vehicles to a producer of vehicles for the delivery of digital experiences and brand enhancing services. This position will play a key role in that transition and in developing and delivering class leading in-vehicle customer experiences and services.

This role will lead the engineering of high-performance automotive speakers for future generations of vehicles.

  What you'll do…

Lead technical specification, design, development, and validation of high-performance automotive speakers and vehicle speaker layouts/architectures to deliver best-in-class performance, attributes, reliability, and efficiency from concept through production.

Lead the development of test and design verification processes for speaker components and speaker systems.

Lead interfaces with key internal and external cross functional stakeholders to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.

Verify complete products for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards such as IEC 62638.

Manage documentation within Ford systems for validation, CAD, and bill of materials.

Be a resource for model engineering teams in support of component integration, program delivery, and issue resolution; be a corporate resource for all speaker related technologies.

Stay up to date on the latest trends and advancements in automotive audio and speaker technologies, materials, and processes.

Provide technical guidance and support for continuous improvement/benchmarking initiatives in speaker design, production & quality processes

  You'll have…

Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics or related field

5+ years of experience leading design, development, and delivery of automotive speaker components and systems.

5+ years of experience with engineering and acoustic principles, steel forming, plastic molding, speaker construction, and vehicle integration

5+ years of experience with acoustic simulation and analysis software

3+ years of experience in 3D CAD and FEA.

  Even better, you may have…

Master’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics or related field

Passion for automotive audio systems and components.

Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.

Willingness to travel as needed to supplier and Ford manufacturing sites.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:
