The Mechanical Engineer I, R&D will function as a liaison between the Mechanical Engineering team and Engineering Services to bridge new product development activities and the creation and maintenance of the data and documentation that defines the product for use by downstream functions.
Primary activities will include creating and approving Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models of components, assemblies, and drawings in Solid Works, creating component specification sheets, processing engineering drawing releases and production drawing releases.
The individual is expected to be a subject matter expert in the use of the SOLIDWORKS CAD design system and SOLIDWORKS PDM data management system.
SOLIDWORKS CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM subject matter expert.
Create, release, revise and document designs utilizing the SOLIDWORKS PDM CAD software.
Initiate and author Engineering Change Orders for the controlled release of engineering designs.
Assist, mentor, train users on the use of the SOLIDWORKS CAD & PDM systems.
Assist, mentor, train users on the use of the Aras PLM system.
Develop training material for the SolidWorks CAD/PDM and Aras PLM system.
Author and manage the release and revision of data in the D2 Documentum global document management system.
Work with the CAD team to collaboratively develop best practices and processes on the use of SolidWorks PDM.
Collaborate with R&D engineering disciplines in the development of new products.
Utilize the ERPLx ERP system in support of new product development activities.
Exercise very high attention to detail and adherence to compliance controls and cGMP standards must be maintained for all work performed and records generated.
-Design and prototype test fixtures to support test engineering activities.
-Develop parametric models for analysis activities.
-Collaboratively troubleshoot technical issues.
Required Education:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Advanced Technical degree.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
SOLIDWORKS CAD, or equivalent design & drafting
SOLIDWORKS PDM, or equivalent data & configuration management
Document / Change Management System
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Possesses a firm understanding of configuration management principles and the FDA requirements that pertain to them.
Good relationship building skills and ability to work in a team environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
Detail oriented, good organizational skills
Ability to understand priorities and time mange projects and assignments effectively

Required Experience:
Bachelor of Science or Equivalent Degree with 0 to 3 years of experience using SOLIDWORKS CAD or equivalent 3D CAD package to design and create Engineering drawings and documentation in a multi-user, cross-functional new product development environment or relevant application of 3D CAD skills in academic environment.
