Job Description
Position Overview
The Solar Operations Engineer provides technical expertise to Invenergy’s operating solar facilities .
Responsibilities
Provide first line technical expertise and support to Invenergy’s operating utility-scale solar facilities.
Identify , evaluate, and resolve equipment reliability and performance issues to maximize site energy production .
Develop relationships with manufacturers of panels, inverters, DC collection system, and tracking equipment to resolve technical issues and implement best practices and operating strategies.
Create procedures and technical documentation regarding the safe and efficient operation of solar facilities.
Lead regular site operation calls and work with field personnel to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
Lead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, or processes
Manage the drone inspection program for solar facilities.
Analyze parts usage, inspection results, and SCADA data to gain operational insights.
Work with the performance analytics team to develop new monitoring strategies and predictive analytics for solar facilities.
Work with the EHS team to develop safe operating practices and standards.
Support the start-up of operations at new facilities
Support the end-of-warranty inspection process at facilities
Some travel (< 25%) and moderate field work may be required
Required Skills
B.S. in an engineering discipline
One to six years work experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and able to quickly acclimate to new software
Ability to independently manage projects and drive initiatives
Preferred Skills
M .S. in an engineering discipline
Strong understanding of AC/DC Electrical Power Systems, Power Electronics, and/or solar energy systems
Demonstrated interest and experience in renewable energy systems
Experience with PV systems, data & statistical analysis, and work management programs
