The Software Test Engineer will provide direct support to the NAWC-AD Software Support Activity (SSA) for testing of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Software Products and Peculiar Support Equipment (PSE), as well as in-house software upgrades and patch support. This person will support the current software tester.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Review OEM software documentation to include software requirement specifications, software design descriptions, software version descriptions, test plans and test reports.
• Develop and execute software test plans and documenting test results in Software Test Reports.
• Obtain, verify and install the correct operating environment and software application image to be tested from CM Database.
• Maintain Build and Test Environments.
• Assess system/software risk and vulnerabilities during testing. Assessing and correcting STIG security vulnerabilities.
• Develop software compilation and installation procedures.
• Develop scripts and tools used to build and/or install software releases.
• Evaluate / report software upgrades during development and testing.
• Maintain, record and track testing efforts into the SSA's Testing Database.
• Attend SSA team meetings, providing software test status and input on software test schedules.
• Trouble shoot and recommend solutions to technical issues throughout the SDLC.
• Support emergency testing related to a cyber security event or an emergency fleet issue. Overtime may be required. Events are short in nature.
• Witness aircraft level testing. One or two trips per year. Normally performed by on-site test personnel.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (electrical, electronic, software, computer science)
• 3 plus years of software testing experience. Having any background with the Navy/DoD testing would be a plus.
• Must be fluent with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must be willing to travel. Travel is minimal.
• U.S. Secret Security Clearance required. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time.
Must be able to communicate converse and exchange information with peers and senior personnel.
Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, computer printer and copy machine.
