Software Solution Architect (often referred to as Sales Engineer) combines technical knowledge with sales skills to support the Sales teams in selling UL's highly technical and regulatory-oriented software products and services. A key part of this role is presenting Proof of Concepts, project proposals, and product demos to both technical and non-technical clients and stakeholders. The associate works heavily with the Sales, Development and Marketing teams to ensure prospective clients receive consistent and cohesive information around products and services.
While the associate is accountable to a Tokyo-based manager, he/she is expected to work with a multitude of cross-cultural teams and clients having locations in Asia Pacific and therefore international travels could be expected throughout the year.
Achieving mastery of UL's software products and their interface offerings
Serves prospective clients by identifying their business needs and engineering adaptations of products and services
Being able to suggest the best combination of products, services, and practices tailored to client needs
Provides pre-sales technical assistance and product education by responding to questions and requests
Gains customer acceptance by making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product will meet client needs
Liaising with other members of the Sales teams and other technical resources
Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues; which often vary depending on countries and cultures; that must be addressed, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
Supporting Sales and Marketing teams by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
Business English fluency (both written and verbal). Native in Japanese
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Selling to customer needs
Strong analytical, problem solving, and facilitation skills.
Strong technical background including: Database principles (SQL Server), Microsoft .NET, system analysis and design, general programming skills, ERP, software configuration and application troubleshooting. Experience with Oracle database is a plus.
3-5 years’ experience working professionally in sales engineering, technical account management, data analysis, sales or engineering
Ability to work independently
University Degree (equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Computer Science, Information System Management, or a related discipline
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
