　　Why this job matters

　　The key purpose of this role is to take ownership of a part of a Digitial Channels solutions, including design, implementation, unit, component testing and preparation for solution deployment. As a full stack software engineer you will be will have skills that enable you to work on the full solution from front to back end. The role will work independently but as prt of a Agile Squad with some guidance when needed and can contribute to pairing with other team members. The role ensures that internal non-functional, functional and operational requirements have been met. Contribute as one of the key Software engineers which includes guaranteeing that other members of the team are fully aware of changes being made and have been involved in creating and reviewing the solution. Define, build and manage software environment, introducing new tools and new facilities to test hardware and software as appropriate.

　　What you’ll be doing

　　• Contributing to planning and prioritising Agile Delivery tasks/stories within team, with enough awareness of the overall Internal & self service development lifecycle, architecture, Engineering tools and techniques, learning from and improving their own approach.

　　• Required to line management a small team. Including responsibilities such as any HR related actions and end of year reviews.

　　• Be a mentor, providing help and guanidance to more juniors developers.

　　• Potentially responsible for interacting with our customers to work out requirements capture and/or show and tell part of solution. This includes developing an understanding of an element of the business domain sufficient to be able to interpret requirements, and making sound design and implementation decisions;

　　• Participate in identifying potential continuous improvements to individual and team practices while being conscious of costs and benefits; and taking ownership of implementing any changes based on improvements identified.

　　• Perform routine analysis and design tasks of various projects.

　　• Make modifications to existing code or develop completely new modules of moderate complexity.

　　• May also undertake testing of other components.

　　• Provide updates and estimates during the development cycle.

　　• Design, implement, unit and component test and prepare for deployment.

　　• Work collaboratively with other teams to solve problems.

　　Skills and Experience required

　　Skills:

　　Provide detailed information on any qualifications, technical expertise or security clearance that you will need for the job. (See example statements below).

　　• IT related degree or relevant practical experience of product service delivery.

　　• Ideally Member of a professional body e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology

　　• Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)

　　Have extensive experience of Java development with a good subset of these skills and willing to learn new ones.

　　For this role initially some experience of Python is required

　　Experience you would be expected to have

　　• Working within an Agile delivery frameworks ideal within fast moving Customer/Advisor focused areas.

　　• Knowledge of user experience focused design and delivery approaches and methodologies focused around product ownership.

　　• Have experience of creating enterprise solutions from scratch.

　　• Have experience working through different environments dev, pit and prod especially experience delivering into a production environment (we use Jenkins with ant script to deploy).

　　• System Administration ability to comfortably check logs in a production server and be comfortable to perform complex tasks via a command line.
