　　Software Engineer, Systems Responsibilities:

　　Research, design, develop, build and test backend infrastructure that ingests, processes, serves map data at large scale

　　Build new features and improve existing products

　　Work on problems of diverse scope and design core, backend software components

　　Handle large scale data storage, synchronization and coordination of large server cluster, and provide a runtime environment for front end code

　　Receiving little instruction on day-to-day work, code using primarily Python, C++, JavaScript, and PHP

　　Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa

　　Conduct design and code reviews

　　Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources

　　Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently without guidance

　　Identify and drive changes as needed for assigned codebase, product area and/or systems

　　Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, and three years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. OR Employer will accept five years of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable. Requires three years of experience in the following:

　　Coding in all of the following industry-standard languages: Python, JavaScript, and C++

　　Building large-scale infrastructure applications

　　Designing and completing medium to large features independently without guidance

　　Owning a particular component, feature or system

　　Building highly-scalable performant solutions

　　Design scalable distributed systems with established partition tolerance, consistency, and availability guarantees

　　RESTful and GraphQL API design, development and documentation

　　Database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Elasticsearch, or Redis

　　Geospatial software or libraries such as QGIS, PostGIS, Leaflet, or Mapbox

　　Automating development, deployment and tests with CI/CD tools such as Docker, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions

　　Open source software development, collaboration, communication with the community

　　Strong algorithmic skills, especially graph-based data structure and path-finding algorithms
