About Software Engineer

  Overview

  This position is in support of LOGCAP

  Under general direction of the Software Sr. Engineer, the Software Engineer will work with the PMO/Operations Support Office for dedicated support of automation.

  Responsibilities

  This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  Contribute to the development and on-going support of upstream and midstream applications for automation of services.

  Provide guidance and consultation in technical matters regarding automation applications.

  Evaluate emerging technologies for current projects and future initiatives; applicable to system architecture, data management, and other similar areas.

  Prepare documentation and training to support IT and Automation processes.

  Develop partnerships with both corporate and region resources.

  Proposes and coordinates the development of systems, configuration, which may include networking systems; develops systems edits and determines the number of fields and screens; develops access codes; determines information required of each screen; writes and modifies local application programs.

  Conducts procedural, informational and functional systems analyses for the purposes of automating systems, designing new and/or modified systems and providing statistical and quantitative data to management; identifies problem areas and performs needs assessments; performs cost benefit analysis on proposed systems.

  Instructs and trains organizational personnel on data processing operations, including distributed and networking computer systems; resolves data processing service complaints between organizational users.

  Designs and/or assists in designing more difficult systems, provides input and output requirement formats; oversees the implementation of new systems and ensures their proper operation.

  Perform other duties as assigned.

  Qualifications

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  High School Diploma; College degree in Business Administration or Information Technology or equivalent experience preferred; IT related certifications desirable.

  Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbal.

  PMP desired.

  Must possess a current Security+, A+ and Network+ or equivalent baseline certification and appropriate computing environment certification.

  Server+, Cloud+ and C++ desirable.

  Experience:

  In addition to excellent oral and written communications skills, the ideal candidate should have the ability to provide technical software, and hardware problem resolution, make independent decisions by performing question/problem diagnosis. Ability to document, research, identify, and attempt to solve technical problems on initial call and/or triage where appropriate for resolution.

  3-5 years operational experience with at least three years of development with enterprise applications including web servers in a Microsoft environment; Preferred SharePoint (2007-2019), Visual Studio, SQL Server (2012-2019) and Azure.

  2-3 years development experience with strong programming fundamentals, Java, .NET, Strong knowledge required in front end and back end technologies, preferably full stack developer.

  Fluent in Microsoft Access, Power Bi, Excel and other Microsoft applications.

  Basic knowledge of PMI Methodologies. Knowledgeable in the use of Gannt Charts.

  Skills:

  Customer Service Training. Ability to assist in writing manuals on software systems.

  WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  Works in a general office environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including high temperatures.

  Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must be able to work overtime or nights as required.

  PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  Work will require lifting up to 25 lbs., stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, and prolonged sitting.

  Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire and Safety Regulations and published company work rules.
