The Programmer Analyst is responsible for providing data acquisition guidelines, data preprocessing, conditioning, and analysis. This would involve system custom-written programming, hardware/software support for customer projects, and compiling the analysis into reports. In general, the Programmer Analyst completes the detail analysis of test data by creating custom code to determine trends and events of interest and works to define and implement any programming requirements for associated research and testing. This might include data conditioning techniques (e.g. coordinate transformations, filtering time history data, etc.), visualizing data by creating animations, applying various statistical analysis methods, and creation of custom code to aid in the conduct of the test. Development of data acquisition systems and application programs; performs maintenance for data acquisition systems and application programs as required; develops the required software; and works to define and implement any programming requirements for associated research and testingEssential FunctionsProvide recommendations in the development and use of technology and technical methods for component and/or full-scale vehicle evaluation, or other related areas of motor vehicle safety researchConduct experiments and data analysis relating to vehicle safety research. Perform analyses of motor vehicle safety or tools used to evaluate motor vehicle safety using mechanical, electrical, computer, biomechanical, human factors, or other engineering principles.
