PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Directs the dialysis operations of a defined area providing leadership and guidance regarding customer service, quality patient care, the marketing of FKC, and financial management. Participates with Operations, Education, Technical and other COEs in collaboration with the Mitigation Strategy division to drive quality improvements, educational activities, and to achieve improvement in clinical and operational outcomes. Coordinates operation strategies and activities to ensure the provision of outstanding quality patient care and dialysis services while ensuring efficiency and economy. Provides direction and oversight to the Clinical Managers, Facility Administrators, and Float Clinical Managers to provide outstanding patient care while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory and company guidelines and requirements.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentors and assists facilities in identifying effective practices and action plans applicable to their needs, in testing for desired results and the adoption and implementation of innovations, initiatives and best practices that align with KPIs and company goals.
Provides guidance for developing action plans. Ensures action plans are followed up on and completed.
Conducts facility risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement, develop plans, and evaluate effectiveness of improvement activities.
Provides guidance and oversight in development, completion and effectiveness of Plans of Corrections (POC) related to CMS, State, OSHA, FDA and other regulatory surveys as well as internal audits.
Responds to facility and Mitigation Division management regarding clinical policies and procedures, clinical standards as well as professional practice and regulatory licensing issues. Provides guidance, interpretation and subject matter expertise.
Develops and assists in maintaining processes for clinics to maintain efficient staff and patient scheduling.
Identifies champions within clinics assigned for various initiatives or core Mitigation Services Division directives.
Develops processes and oversees maintenance for clinic adherence for anemia management, adequacy management, catheter reduction and mineral bone metabolism. Ensures co-morbid conditions are documented.
Conducts exit conference with facility management staff to review risk assessment results and evaluation of QAI programs effectiveness.
Educates Facility Managers on the completion of routine internal QAI reviews to identify risk areas.
Develops processes and maintains/oversees all clinics Crown Web and NHSN adherence.
Reports to the RVP of region and identifies any red alerts and reports immediately.
Responds to emergent requests to investigate, intervene and assist with resolution of a facility specific problem including clinical variances and serious adverse advents.
Fosters and maintains good working relationships with state survey agencies, CMS regional offices, ESRD and other regulatory bodies that have jurisdiction over FMCNA facilities.
Stays abreast and utilizes current knowledge of FMC clinical and administrative policies for the Mitigation Strategies Division.
Collaborates with the Mitigation Division Representatives of the Medical Advisory Board to conduce activities that promote and advance the QEMP relating to improvement of clinical outcomes.
Business Administrative
Works with financially and operationally struggling clinics.
Presents financials and status reports of the Area at a divisional level on a quarterly basis.
Participates in strategy sessions to improve financials, growth, and overall success of clinics.
Oversees the implementation of all aspects of clinic integration for newly acquired clinics.
Book of Business - financial metrics
Book of business consisting of 15-20 outpatient centers. Large geographic territory including multiple states and regions which overlap several legacy areas.
Book of business changes frequently (12 - 24 months) to meet goals of the Mitigation and Acquisition Integration Division and Company.
Partners with business development to drive growth and/or discuss closures, consolidations and divestitures. Responsible for closing, consolidating, or divesting clinics as appropriate in partnership with business strategy.
Responsible for support of all financial aspects of running the group including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and payroll. Ensures compliance with all local, state and national reimbursement practices, including government and commercial payers.
Stakeholder - relationships in highly matrix environment
Drives financial engagement and growth through education of physicians and partnership with Medical Directors utilizing the scorecards, facility profiles and profit and loss statements.
Highly adept at relationship building and cross team collaboration, partners with 4-9 regional teams and 15-20 area teams and physician practices.
Partners with Legacy to address capacity issues in the market.
Collaborates with GVP, Physician Strategies, Market Development, and FMS Marketing departments and other pertinent division management to develop and implement a regional marketing plan to support regional growth and profitability.
Clinical
Participates in divisional and company committees, boards and implementation teams.
Develops current managers to implement new processes for correcting CMS deficiencies and new processes to better improve patient and clinic outcomes.
Participates in divisional and company pilots to drive innovation.
Implements operational efficiency improvements which may include, but are not limited to, the standardization of systems, quality control, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Attends QAI either in person or on the phone while covering a large geographical area.
Human Resources
Potentially challenging/critical staffing issues and retention strategies development.
Develops and empowers managers to successfully run their clinics, precepts new Clinical Managers and educates them on their role.
Works with HR business partner and RVP to evaluate market needs to stay competitive in the area and assess for compression within facilities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Day to day work includes desk and personal computer work and interaction with patients, facility staff and physicians.
The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.
The position requires approximately 75% continuous and extensive travel over a large territory between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Travel to Regional, Divisional and Corporate meetings may be required.

Typically supervises exempt staff such as Clinical Manager, Area Manager and Operations ManagerEDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS :
Current RN license required, multiple states preferred
Advanced education preferred
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
At least 5 years experience in managing and leading groups, preferably in healthcare.
Strong serving leadership skills and demonstrated leadership competencies and skills, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, results orientation, team building, motivating employees, performance management, and decision making.
Demonstrated management skills necessary to provide leadership in the supervision of dialysis personnel and to ensure the delivery of maximum quality care to all patients.
Maintains knowledge of technical and clinical aspects of the dialysis business.
