Job Description
The Diagnostics Engineering Group would like to hire a Senior Principal Engineer to lead development and deployment activities for our OS based diagnostic-test tools. We need an architect level engineer with history of technical leadership of large development projects, with in-depth understanding of system architecture, Linux system programming, detailed understanding of UEFI and other platform and component firmware interfaces and expertise in IO technologies. Excellent communication and influencing skills are a must. Previous experience developing hardware focused tests and tools at OS level is helpful.
We are responsible for developing, validating and releasing diagnostic-test tools for all of Oracle system platforms which are extensively used by Engineering, Manufacturing, Cloud data centers and Development Partner teams. These are key tools for OS based hardware testing, critically necessary for platform validation and for platform shipment from manufacturing. These tools provide test coverage for all system components such as Memory, Processor, Storage, Networking, Power, Interconnects, GPU, etc.
Responsibilities
Architect and lead development of diagnostic-test tools using their skills as a recognized inspiring leader, with a strong ability to communicate and influence others, build consensus, lead teams, engage engineers, and drive towards business and technical decisions.
You will innovate on test techniques while working with latest in Processors (Intel/AMD/ARM), GPUs, Networking and Storage technologies. You will partner with our key collaborators, facilitate key technical decision points, and take architecture specifications to working engineering outcomes with our diagnostic-test tools. You will drive our agile software development, and support our tools in active Cloud fleet. You will also work closely with our external partners, hardware OEMs and suppliers in deploying and supporting our product.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
The following qualifications are highly desired:
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
10+ years experience working with System programming, Linux OS internals, software development
Excellent programming skills in C/C++, Python
Knowledge of Intel, AMD, and ARM based server architectures
Knowledge of Networking, Storage, SmartNIC and GPU technologies
Experience developing hardware focused tests and tools at OS level
Leading large software development projects

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
