  Job Description

  The Cloud Foundation Services team is responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining core services that are used by the Oracle Global Industry Units to create enterprise-grade cloud offerings for their industries. These services include a Development and SRE for MSP, SDaaS, Networking and Security, and Database as a Service (DBaaS), to support high margin, highly elastic, and highly available Software as a Service application running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

  We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong programming skills with the depth and breadth to evaluate complex environments and technology stacks, and build/code/maintain efficient services and solutions. We use tools such as Python, RESTful API, Docker, and more, in a DevOps, CI/CD, agile development environment.

  Qualifications and Experience

  In order to be successful at the role you will need to have and be able to demonstrate up-to-date experience in the following areas:

  Good communication skills, analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of product development

  Knowledge of hyper-scaled distributed systems and cloud implementations, with a proven track record in Performance, Scalability, and Resiliency

  Strong experience in developing RESTful API microservices based on Python, Docker, and Kubernetes. (Must have at least 2+ year of Python development experience in a commercial environment)

  Strong experience and comfort with automation of Linux operating system installation, hardening, tuning, and upgrading using Ansible or similar tools

  Experience working on AWS/Azure/GCP or any other cloud platform

  Understanding of Cloud design patterns

  Experience in CI/CD and DevSecOps work styles

  Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative software development environment (Agile-Scrumis years)

  Familiarity with GitLab, Jira, Confluence

  Exposure to test-driven development, with Jenkins experience being a strong plus, and knowledge of BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) and Cucumber considered a bonus.

  Exposure to security principles and security implementations for database engines and associated applications

  Candidates for this role should have 5-8 years of relevant software development experience and hold a BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  Additionally, having the following technical certifications and skills would be beneficial:

  Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Foundation Certification

  Fundamentals of Database on OCI

  SQL experience on any of the key relational DBs

  Exposure to Oracle components such as Audit Vault, Key Vault, and Enterprise Manager

  Hands-on experience of Elasticsearch, Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana

  Knowledge of PCI / HIPPA and SOC 2

  Responsibilities

  This role is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Native DBaaS group. As a team member, you will be responsible for various tasks related to feature development, enhancements, bug fixes, and operations. Additionally, you will contribute to security maintenance and remediation efforts, participate in code reviews, help create standard operating procedures (SOPs), and collaborate on automation initiatives. The specific responsibilities of the role include:

  Feature Development & Enhancements:

  Assist in responding to Requests for Information Queries

  Provide technical expertise and guidance in the refinement of user stories.

  Lead the design and implementation of complex EPICS, ensuring adherence to coding standards and architectural guidelines

  Take ownership of bug fixes, analyzing and resolving reported issues in a timely manner

  Contribute to Confluence documentation by documenting architectural decisions, best practices, and lessons learned.

  Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to ensure clear and comprehensive requirements

  Security Maintenance or Remediation:

  Develop and implement strategies to address security vulnerabilities.

  Lead the remediation of Daily Scan Issues

  Manage Certificate Rotation and patching tasks.

  Collaborate with other scrum and extended teams to ensure security compliance.

  Document and report progress to stakeholders and patching

  Code Reviews:

  Create merge requests for their codes and follow the MR process.

  Provide detailed comments on specific lines of code and help ensure the code adheres to established best practices.

  Review code from their peers and engage in discussions around proposed changes.

  Approve and merge the changes

  Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

  Provide leadership in enforcing and promoting the adherence to SOPs across the development team.

  Collaborate with stakeholders to identify gaps or inefficiencies in existing SOPs and propose improvements.

  Mentor junior developers, guiding them in understanding and following SOPs effectively.

  Lead the development of new SOPs, considering scalability, efficiency, and maintainability.

  Conduct periodic training sessions on SOPs to ensure awareness and understanding within the team.

  As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be expected to demonstrate strong software development skills, stay up to date with industry trends, and actively share knowledge with team members. The role emphasizes quality, automation, and reliability, and you will have the opportunity to develop expertise in Oracle Cloud technology offerings and gain a broad knowledge of how databases and services are commissioned using the Oracle Cloud platform.
