SUMMARY OF THE ROLE As a Site Reliability Engineer you will actively contribute to the health, observability, and maintainability of our production environment and associated components. This role requires a strong foundation in both software development and systems skills, with a focus on operational excellence. LOCATION 100% Remote - Anywhere within the US RESPONSIBILITIES • Evangelism Skills: Ability to communicate site reliability concepts to diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical. • Fault Tolerance: Understanding of fault tolerance in software and systems, with the ability to contribute to architectural discussions. • Automation Mindset: Desire to automate tasks, leveraging infrastructure as code and tooling to enhance efficiency. • Curiosity: Inquisitive nature, seeking to understand the intricacies of how and why things work. • Ownership Mentality: Willingness to take ownership and contribute to various levels of the technology stack. • Architectural Awareness: Familiarity with distributed computing fundamentals and a commitment to improving system resilience. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS • Experience: 3-5 years of combined experience in DevOps, SRE, Systems, or software development roles. • Cloud Exposure: Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP). • Containerization Basics: Understanding of workload orchestration and containerization concepts (Kubernetes, Docker). • Automation Skills: Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Ruby, Python) and basic infrastructure as code (Terraform) knowledge. • CI/CD Exposure: Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with platforms like GitLab or Jenkins. • Proven Reliability: Demonstrated ability to contribute to the support of production systems. • Networking Fundamentals: Basic knowledge of networking components, including routing, DHCP, and DNS. • Availability: Willingness to participate in on-call rotations. • Bonus Points: Interest in Helm/Kapitan, exposure to Ruby on Rails and interest and knowledge with Golang, specifically within the context of the Kubernetes API Link to All Staff Competencies and Mental and Physical Requirements RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT Finalsite offers 100% fully remote employment opportunities, however, these opportunities are limited to permanent residents of the United States.
