The goal of 4-H is to assist youth and adults in becoming competent, coping and contributing members of a global society, developing essential life skills through planned “learn by doing” experiences. 4-H is a human development program of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service involving youths and adults. 4-H uses the university knowledge base as a means of facilitating the design, development, and delivery of experiential youth education programs.
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics ( STEM ) Education Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery, implementation, and monitoring of STEM curriculum, initiatives, and educational opportunities. The STEM Program Coordinator will collaborate with program directors and stakeholders in education and the community to organize and promote interdisciplinary STEM activities that are aligned with content-area standards – including the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, and Next Generation Science Standards. and with the goals of our learning community. The STEM Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and reporting requirements of a federal STEM grant. In addition, the STEM Coordinator is responsible for outreach to local community organizations, schools, and businesses to provide enhanced, experiential learning opportunities for all students.
This position is funded through the Robots, Energy, and Agriscience program, a joint project of NC State University and NC A&T State University, funded through a USDA / NIFA Children, Youth, and Families at Risk grant. The STEM Education Coordinator will collaborate with grant leadership at NC A&T State University and NC State University and be the community focused extension of that team within two program sites in (Bladen and Harnett Counties). The duty station for the position is in the Harnett County Cooperative Extension office.

The Cooperative Extension Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is
an educational outreach organization within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development.Together with its partners – North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system is formed.In addition to campus operations, The Cooperative Extension Program has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred:
● Bachelor’s degree with experience in STEM education or K-12 education
● Experience teaching STEM topics in non-formal environments
● Community outreach experience
● Administrative experience
● Knowledge and experience in the creation and implementation of educational programming for use with traditionally under-served and limited resource youth, families, and communities.
● Department Required Skills Candidate must have knowledge of the current theories, techniques and methodologies of STEM education, development of K-12 STEM curriculum design and instructional technology integration. Must have the Ability to analyze data from multiple sources to implement and monitor successful STEM initiatives and curriculum
● Ability to implement and provide professional development in STEM
● Familiarity with grant coordination and implementation and being able to meet deadlines.
● Ability to work as a team member, maintain a high level of professionalism and ethics and have Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
