We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer with 10 to 20 years of experience in civil engineering hydraulics and its application in water resources, especially with hydraulic modeling, river mechanics, erosion control/bank stabilization, sediment transport, flood mitigation, and channel restoration and design, as well as experience in applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to solve problems in the field of civil hydraulics. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and history of performing riverine-based projects, and a fundamental understanding of environmental fluid mechanics, complemented with a theoretical understanding of CFD and an awareness of its practical utility. The ability to communicate complex concepts to clients through oral, written, and graphical communication is key. Experience involving riverine flows, hydraulic structures, fish passage, channel design, sediment transport, and geomorphology is highly preferred. Experience with 2D/3D hydrodynamic modeling in riverine, estuarine, and/or coastal settings will be considered a positive attribute. The candidate must be a team player with strong leadership qualities but be comfortable working independently. This position will work closely with our Fort Collins office , where current staff have a range of in-office and remote preferences. Ideally the position would be based out of that office, but under certain circumstances, basing the position out of other locations may be considered.

Responsibilities:
Business development in the Water Resources area
Meeting/speaking with prospective clients to learn their needs
Management and technical execution of water resource engineering projects from start to finish
Develop technical approaches and costing, analysis of field and modeling data, interpretation of modeling results, and hydraulic design
Application of modeling tools in hydraulic assessments and design
Technical writing (proposals, memos, reports, presentations, conference papers, etc.)
Attendance and presentation at industry conferences and trade shows
Mentorship of technical staff
Qualifications:
Master’s or Ph.D. in Hydraulic or Civil Engineering preferred
10 to 20 years of experience in civil hydraulic engineering
Hydraulic and sediment-transport modeling and analysis
Registered as a Professional Engineer
Project management experience
Marketing/business development capabilities (e.g., give talks, write papers)
Supervisory and mentoring experience
Experience with commonly used software for water resource modeling
Experience with standard CFD software (e.g., FLOW-3D, ANSYS Fluent, StarCCM+)
Must be able to pass a background check to be considered
