About Senior Software Engineer

  The Commerce and Ecosystem (C+E) team is working to enable an easier experience for customers and partners to grow, as well as to buy and do business with us by delivering a dependable, safe and secure commerce infrastructure.

  The C+E Sales, Partner & Supply Chain (SPS) team works on three major areas:

  We build the tool chain for the Microsoft sales force to enable pre-sales, sales in New Commerce, Co-selling with Partners, and post sales engagement.

  We build the systems that enable the Microsoft partner ecosystem. Including the Microsoft cloud partner program, The New Commerce breadth motion or CSP and the systems to motivate partners to drive the right business and customers outcome.

  We build the platform that powers the device and cloud supply chains for Microsoft.

  Our team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to assist in building a scalable, efficient large-scale distributed system leveraging the extremely secure and compliant building blocks from the Azure cloud infrastructure to process big data using the cutting-edge big data processing and near real time streaming technologies. The system will adhere to the most rigorous of standards in build, deployment, testing, compliance and auditability to light up partner enabling and motivating experiences to help them drive up their earnings. This team’s work is critical for the on time and accurate earnings payment to partners in certain domains that cover the breadth of Microsoft’s business from Azure to Gaming to Microsoft Ads to Bing to the AI wave. Once the foundational capabilities are built, the team will look to power state-of-the-art AI-enabled experiences on this platform to augment the Microsoft partner experiences.

  Responsibilities

  Design, Implement, Validate, Release components/services/systems and operate in an agile methodology delivering value incrementally.

  Develop solutions that address aspects of usability, reliability, security, performance, scale, maintainability, extensibility and built-with-ops-as-first class aspects for the different components/services/system(s) in a cloud world.

  Design and implement cloud-based distributed systems and data technologies (blobs/parquet, azure delta lake, in-memory distributed caches).

  Design and implement accurate and actionable internal monitoring and tooling to help maintain business Service Level Agreement (SLA) and system health.

  Participate in On Call and Site Reliability rotations to support live site and drive engineered solutions to improve customer experiences.

  Learn with and as appropriate, lead the team in adopting relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes that progressively advances our services’ capabilities to its different stakeholders.

  Provide critical thinking, technical innovation, and attention to detail while serving as a trusted advisor in the organization.

  Gain understanding of Microsoft business processes and collaborate with all stakeholders to contribute to build a cohesive set of capabilities built to deliver frictionless experience.

  Define estimates, roadmaps and contribute to strategy elements – from ideation to articulation to delivery.

  Stay educated on existing, emerging technologies and deliver proof of concepts to evaluate technology development towards service modernization and capabilities enhancements.

  Qualifications

  Required Qualifications:

  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  OR equivalent experience.

  Efficient software engineering experience building and shipping large-scale, high performance, scalable systems and services.

  Experience with distributed computing, and databases.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  Robust working knowledge of data-structures, algorithms and object-oriented design

  Experience developing distributed data processing pipelines.

  Experience in building applications using Spark Structured Streaming.

  Robust experience and working knowledge in Azure, AWS or a similar Cloud Platform especially in developing PaaS.

  Experience in a DevOps culture supporting live site.

  Experience in Agile execution / delivery.

  Understanding of distributed state management.

  Experience writing and debugging asynchronous and multi-threaded code.

  Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
