Unilever North America Nutrition Business Unit (BU) in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey is looking for a consumer savvy scientist to join our Consumer Technical Insights (CTI) team to contribute to the success of our North America brands. CTI is an integral part of R&D, sitting at the interface between product design and marketing. Our purpose is to guide our brand and category design partners to create products that deliver to the consumer needs, with product experiences that delight consumers and cue desired benefits. We develop communications that are purposeful and extremely compelling.
This is an exciting opportunity for a role designed to cover Insights and Consumer testing through a holistic approach and multiple touch points via consumer, sensory, claims and science skills.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
Be an expert for Insights. Using both consumer research and sensory tools to uncover the insights to guide new product development along with identifying market trends and opportunities.
Drive relevant communication to multiple brands that will land in the North American market.

Who You Are and What You'll Do
Deliver Holistic Design thinking via consumer and sensory research.
Derive new insights coming from market trends analysis, e-commerce review and social commerce/ social media activities and them into insights and/or new product opportunities.
Communicate insights within and outside R&D to ensure that these land into innovation projects and compelling selling stories.
Strengthen the relationship & engagement with external consumer market research agencies.
Employ a sound understanding of the category, brands, competitive environment, and technology to pull consumer relevant insights.
Work together with R&D partners to develop selling stories that are consumer relevant and drive innovation understanding with consumers, sales, legal, pr/advertising agencies, and external category influencers
Ensure appropriate test methodologies for sensory, qualitative, and quantitative consumer evaluation through discussions with CTI managers, Project / Platform Leaders, CMI and Brand Managers.
Develop plans and prepare qualitative discussion groups to uncover consumer preferences and understanding. Alternatively, brief and partner with external agencies / supplier to achieve the same objectives.
What You Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Food Science, Data Science, Chemistry, Biology Science, Psychology or similar discipline preferred
4+ years of experience in CTI/Claims (Consumer research, Sensory, Claims and Communication Development) (including internship) strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Sensory Science, Consumer research, statistics/data modeling a plus
Sensory & Consumer testing techniques along with Claim support and demo creation techniques experience.
Formulation & lab practical ability
Knowledge of digital tools & systems including Digital savviness on e-commerce/ social commerce
Excellent communication skills
Pay: The pay range for this position is $83,200 to $124,700. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
