We are seeking a Senior Risk Manager, to set the strategic vision for our policy and governance program, designing EU specific risk framework in Europe, UK and Turkey in line with global orientation. This person will be responsible to assessing and managing the risk, scoping, defining and managing the policies to drive proactive initiatives to efficiently, accurately and effectively detect and prevent unsafe products being listed on Amazon stores for the benefit of our customers and selling partners. Defining these policies requires a deep understanding of the Product, Food Safety and Compliance programs (e.g. classification, policy management, document reviews, safety investigations, product recalls) and includes the identification and implementation of right compliance tools to track, store and mine all statutory provisions, as well as understanding the product requirements set by regulations and standards.
The SRM guides a team to cover product and food selection in European region and daily partners and consults with business, legal, technical teams, customer service, and other internal/external teams to set objectives, define requirements, and implement sustainable and systemic solutions to deliver on long term program goals and influence policy.
A successful candidate will be comfortable with balancing strategic thinking with tactical, detailed execution while working independently, sorting through ambiguously defined problems, identifying and facing challenges, and adjusting to sudden and frequent change.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead the team of policy and governance program managers in EU, UK and Turkey, on a complex cross-functional program with considerable impact across multiple organizations
• Develop the overall program strategy, driving teams in and outside of your organization to deliver
• Support Safety and Compliance regulatory contacts and escalations
• Support media escalations related to safety and compliance issues
• Partner to drive continual process improvement
• Maintain weekly and monthly metrics and report to onsite management teams and business stakeholders
• Ensure professional practice standards are met by working with others to enhance operational procedures, systems, and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes and enhanced management reporting
• Deliver results to achieve stated goals and projects as assigned
• Work cross functionally with internal and external Amazon teams and third-party suppliers

The Senior Risk Manager will work as a people manager in a team environment, collaborating remotely with team members in other Amazon locations.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years' program management experience
• 5+ years' experience directly related to risk management, product/food compliance, medical device compliance, healthcare policy, process improvement, quality, regulatory compliance, operations, transportation or other logistics functions
• Experience using oral and written communication skills to propose complex solutions and explanations
• Experience working with and presenting to business leadership on escalations in order to problem solve
• Experience working with global teams
• Experience working with and presenting to business leadership on escalations and problem solving. Ability to make decisions even in ambiguous situations
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, engineering, operations, logistics, supply chain, regulatory, risk management or related field.
• MBA, MS or MA (Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Retail, Manufacturing or Equivalent).
• 5+ years’ experience influencing industry or regulatory norms and policies
• Continuous improvement background (i.e. 6 sigma, ISO, Quality, etc.)
• Experience working with public policy or legal team, influencing internal policy
• Experience managing direct reports
• Excellent organizational skills with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
• Demonstrated skill and passion for problem solving and operational excellence
• Penchant for process improvement to mitigate risk and deliver a positive customer experience
• Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and action oriented
• Experience working independently and autonomously
• Experience working collaboratively
