  Job Description Summary

  Responsible for the preparation and mailing of required IRS Form 5500 and applicable schedules and/or annual and mid-year compliance tests for an assigned caseload of complex plans.

  Job Description

  ResponsibilitiesForm 5500:

  Analyze and research complex data to ensure proper completion of Form 5500 and applicable schedules.

  Prepare forms within set deadlines and quality expectations.

  Determine appropriate investment categorization and reporting of underlying investments in the plan (master trusts, common collective trusts, separately management accounts, etc.)

  Provide communications and auditing packages to auditors and clients according to IRS regulations.

  Research and answer questions from auditors and clients, and assist clients with e-filing of 5500 forms and attachments.

  Compliance Testing:

  Analyze and research census data provided by the client in preparation for compliance testing.

  Determine appropriate tests needed per plan based on specific plan provisions.

  Perform compliance testing (ADP/ACP, 401(a)(4), 410(b), Benefits, Rights & Features, Top Heavy), calculations of employer match and nonelective contributions, and applicable refunds. Monitor 402(g) and 415 limits and handle corrective measures.

  Analyze the impact of business structure, mergers/acquisitions, spin-offs, and terminations to compliance testing.

  Resolve plan operational errors discovered during test processes.

  General Functions:

  Review plan documents and understand the impact to the functions performed.

  Review IRS regulations pertaining to qualified retirement plans, including controlled groups/affiliated service groups, and mergers/acquisitions, and the impact on the functions performed.

  Assist clients with 5500 processes and/or compliance testing and overall compliance with the plans.

  Act in a consulting capacity to clients and internal team members to provide guidance on complex plan issues.

  Interpret and communicate complex plan provisions and IRS regulations to various parties as needed.

  Evaluate alternative solutions and consult with other team members/manage for resolution.

  Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree in finance or business, or equivalent work experience

  Five years of relevant retirement plan experience

  Thorough understanding of 550 forms, compliance testing, or related functions

  Analytical skills and attention to detail

  Ability to prioritize work within assigned caseload

  Proficiency using MS Office

  Preferred Qualifications

  Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to applicable pay transparency and compensation posting laws. It is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid in certain Company locations.

  The Salary for this position generally ranges between $53,000 - 70,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

  Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus of 7.5% based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company discretion.
