  GAI is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (transmission line) to join our Power Delivery team. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems. Candidates with a minimum of 1-year of experience and knowledge in PLS-CADD are eligible for remote work. Candidates without PLS-CADD knowledge need to be based at any GAI office on-site or on a hybrid schedule. The successful candidate will be eligible for a GAI sign-on bonus if applying without the use of an outside recruiting agency.

  The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI's Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

  Competency

  Knowledge of project management skills and uses intermediate practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy. May serve as PM Coach to Task Managers and other PMs.Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.Job Responsibilities:

  Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:Preparation of Specification PackagesPreparation of Structural and Fabrication DrawingsDesign and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TowerDesign and Analysis of foundations.Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications.Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings.Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.Must demonstrate attention to detail.Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.Coordinates and develops proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects managed.Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processes.Direction Received:

  Design a portion of a project, system, component, or process; prepares complete project documents; designs and conducts field investigations, analyzes and interprets data; formulates and solves problems. Works under broad direction from senior management, in which supervision and guidance is provided largely on overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.Education and Training:

  Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering is required. Preferred a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles.Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships.Minimum of 4 years experience in transmission line design.Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE).Preferred experience with PLS-TOWER and FAD Tools.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  Must have PE (Professional Engineer License).Competency:

  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Autocadd, Microstation, PLS S iteCommunication Skills:

  Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical reports and procedures, and governmental regulations.Ability to write reports and other business correspondence.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other staff members.Mathematical Skills:

  Required mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practiced (e.g., engineering calculations, design, etc.)Computer Skills:

  Demonstrate in-depth understanding of basic computer systems and software packages. Must be willing to learn software that is specific to Power Delivery Industry.Travel Requirements:

  Must be able to travel to GAI and client office locations as needed. Travel requirement is estimated at up to 10%.Physical Demands:

  This is a full-time, 40-HR per week, exempt position.
