  Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Production Engineer in the Valued Specialty Materials Plant (VSM), located at Michigan Operations in Midland, MI.

  About you and this role:

  This position serves as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, drive continuous improvement, and enable safe and efficient production. This role requires broadened conceptual and working knowledge and experience in job discipline to perform a range of work assignments.

  Responsibilities:

  Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem solving skills and technical expertise to execute safe production.

  Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and consulting with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).

  Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.

  Understands why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keeps a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.

  Conducts daily review of logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities.

  Maintains, owns, and reviews daily Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.

  Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.

  Ensures compliance with plant operating permits. Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.

  Partners with the experts to develop and implement a Plant Specific Technology Plan that delivers positive year-over-year ROC (return on capital) and non-capital continuous improvement while meeting the plant level EH&S improvement goals.

  Leads continuous improvement activities for the facility and may serve in specific GPM related roles of project manager or manufacturing representative.

  Serves as the implementation arm of the technology center. This includes serving as the local focal point for Most Effective Technology (MET) implementation, and LOPA / LPP follow-up.

  Earn respect and trust of operations team through problem solving skills and technical expertise.

  Partner with the experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve operating discipline.

  Perform root cause investigations and implement effective corrective actions.

  Respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies. Serve as a technical expert during unplanned events and drive implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.

  Flexibility in this role is critical, will need to be available for unit needs. While this role is primarily days, nights and weekends might be required for special circumstances.

  Qualifications:

  A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.

  A minimum of 2 years of engineering, manufacturing or related experience preferred.

  A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
