  Day-to-day tasks encompass a comprehensive range of activities, beginning with the strategic analysis of diverse investment portfolios. The role involves meticulous risk management, requiring a keen understanding of market dynamics and economic trends to proactively mitigate potential risks and optimize portfolio performance.

  A significant aspect of functions is the continuous exploration and implementation of innovative investment strategies. This involves staying abreast of market developments, identifying emerging opportunities, and formulating tailored strategies aligned with the organization's financial objectives.

  Engagement with stakeholders is a consistent thread throughout the role, necessitating effective communication and transparency. Regular interactions with internal teams, external partners, and clients are vital for conveying investment strategies, addressing concerns, and maintaining trust. This active involvement positions the Investment Manager as a central figure in fostering strong relationships and upholding the organization's reputation for sound financial management.

  Responsibilities

  Investment Management – Strategic and TacticalA. General Account – Traditional Portfolio

  Manage and monitor the investment strategies for general traditional accounts, balancing risks and returns to align with long-dated liabilities including asset allocation, oversight over security selection, and duration management.

  Develop and execute investment strategies aimed at ensuring the assets within the general traditional accounts are aligned with long-dated liabilities, such as annuities or long-term insurance policies.

  Utilize advanced risk management techniques to mitigate interest rate risks, credit risks, and market volatility, ensuring stability and predictability in meeting future obligations.

  Identify and select appropriate fixed-income securities, equities, real estate investments, and alternative assets to construct a diversified portfolio that balances risk and return.

  Liaise with external fund managers, capital market brokers and traders, and regulators with the view of expanding investment access while improving market perception and facilitating portfolio strategic and tactical asset allocation.

  B. Fund Investment Link Account and Money Market Fund Management

  Design tailored investment strategies for fund unit link accounts based on varying risk profiles and investment preferences of policyholders.

  Implement dynamic asset allocation techniques to optimize returns, considering market conditions, policyholder preferences, and risk tolerance.

  Conduct regular performance reviews and make necessary adjustments to maintain alignment with investment objectives while addressing market changes and policyholder expectations.

  Ensure adequate liquidity within the money market funds to meet pension obligations while maximizing returns within permissible risk parameters.

  Adhere to stringent regulatory guidelines governing pension funds, ensuring that investment decisions comply with legal requirements and risk management standards.

  Collaborate closely with pension fund managers and administrators, providing insights into the fund’s performance, risk exposures, and future investment strategies.

  Investment Management – Services Collaboration and CoordinationOversee strategy execution by establishing new strategies and portfolios, managing transitions, handling fund injections and withdrawals, implementing benchmark changes, and restructuring portfolios.

  Collaborate with external Portfolio Managers and Analysts to manage various requests, including navigating investment guidelines, conducting operational readiness checks, analyzing return attribution, and preparing presentations.

  Support the Investment department by facilitating process reviews and conducting operational risk assessments.

  Provide strategic capital management planning support for Fixed Income, Public Equities, and ALDA (Alternative Long Duration Asset) Portfolio Managers.

  Lead projects related to strategy execution and change initiatives, engaging with various Manulife functions (Local, Regional, and MIM) from project initiation to post-implementation stages.

  Address front office issues and potential challenges arising from market fluctuations, operational matters, risk, and compliance considerations.

  Manage stakeholders across investment teams to ensure timely delivery of initiatives and projects, considering their impact on the front office, particularly regarding corporate initiatives.

  Coordinate ALDA placements and manage pre-trade reservations and allocations, collaborating closely with the Deal team on non-standard deals.

  Collaborate with other departments (such as derivative trading, market trading, risk, audit, legal, and compliance) to drive improvements in processes and systems.

  Represent investment views and issues to internal audiences through communications, presentations, and/or committee meetings.

  Perform with Actuarial, Product, and other teams in enhancing investment management, asset sourcing, and other transactions for enhancing capital allocation.

  Perform additional business management tasks, including business continuity management, prioritizing resource teams and budgets, and managing income and expenses.

  Investment Evaluation, Monitoring, and ReportingConduct regular risk assessments and market analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities within the portfolios.

  Review the risk appetite and build the risk controls for different risk parameters (ie market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, and other investment or financial risk related)

  Continuously monitor and evaluate portfolio performance, adjusting as necessary to optimize returns and mitigate risks.

  Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, prepare detailed investment reports, and communicate investment performance to stakeholders.

  Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and investment products to innovate and enhance portfolio strategies.

  Evaluate and provide oversight for the progress and performance of target achievements, performance measurements and budget execution.

  Ensure alignment with Investment management’s methodologies, strategies, standards, mandates, and objectives to be aligned with local and regional regulations.

  Ensure internal and regulatory compliance of investment activities, where active and passive breaches are rectified promptly and reasonably.

  What we are looking for

  University degree (S1 in either Business, Economics, Accounting or Financial Management)

  Wakil Manajer Investasi (WMI) license holder/exam passer or CFA candidate/charter holder is a plus.

  Min. 7 years of working experience in insurance-related investments or asset management companies.

  Structured thinker and problem solver. Project management skills are highly preferred.

  Strong focus on trade execution, operations, finance, and/or data and analytics.

  Passion for excellence and an eye for detail

  Ability to drive process and reporting improvements.

  Knowledge of and interest in Public Markets (Fixed Income and Equity) will be preferred.

  Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and resilience to challenges.

  A strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills, who is keen to learn, support, and contribute to the team’s mandate.

  Self-starter with strong initiative, who is hands-on and comfortable to manage multiple tasks, confident to engage different stakeholders, and can work independently to deliver outcomes.

  Good working knowledge of MS Office, in particular MS Excel, is a must. Good working knowledge of data visualization requirements would be highly preferred.
