Job Description
Under minimal levels of supervision, the Platform Engineer will work as part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting multiple, complex custom and 3rd party solutions. Primary responsibilities will focus on providing 24/7 operational support including monitoring, incident management, root cause triage, monitoring, road maps, documentation, testing, and product integration. In addition, the engineer will perform and coordinate planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance activities to facilitate version upgrades and support initiatives to deliver new solutions and bring new installations online (e.g. new ship builds)
Primary Responsibility:
Engage as Primary SME for multiple DCL onboard applications. Engage as technical point of contact with vendors, peers, and Ops Engineering partners. Perform daily activities to ensure availability and stability of lower and production environments including maintenance, configuration, and software updates following established procedures. Identify root causes of system issues and resolve independently. Participate in evaluating, developing, and implementing tools and automation to facilitate platform maintenance and administration to ensure operational efficiency, and reliability. 24/x7 on call support for Sev1/Sev2 incidents, engage per the established policies and procedures including the Incident and Change Management Processes Participate in planning and executing projects for business unit initiatives and updating existing infrastructure, products and/or services. Collaborate to develop solution roadmaps.
Engage to define or identify environment requirements/sizing, system architecture including Integration points, configuration, monitoring needs, security compliance, system availability, recovery, and implementation strategies.
Proactively work to identify and resolve technical blockers.
Provide support for multiple levels of testing prior to upgrades or releases of new infrastructure, software, and service layer components. Serve as primary technical liaison with vendors and manage vendor related activities such as incidents/bug fixes, release schedules, escalations, issue tracking, system access, Proactively ensure compliance with Security standards Create and maintain required system documentation.
REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field or related work experience.
5 years’ experience supporting enterprise solutions.
Knowledge of systems applications and hardware, server architecture, operating platforms, and internet and web applications.
Excellent Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience with deployment automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Azure DevOps
Experience with monitoring and data logging platforms such as Grafana and Splunk
Knowledge of various security standards such as GDPR/CCPA/PCI and experience with related activities such as assessment, audits, pen testing, and resolving security findings.
Experience with project management methodologies (agile, scrum, waterfall).
Travel as needed (< 20%)

Experience with technologies such as:
Virtualization technologies (VMware, Docker, etc.)
Enterprise operating systems (Linux, Windows)
Operating system packaging systems and installers
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher
Familiarity with Enterprise database systems (Oracle, Postgres, MariaDB, Couchbase, MongoDB)
Experience managing GIT repositories
GIT and version control
Agile software development methodologies
Experience in the Cruise Line Industry and its critical systems.
