The Opportunity
IPSD has an opening for an Engine System Performance Senior Engineer, located in the Wuxi, China. As the Engine System Performance Senior Engineer, you will deliver optimised Engine System performance recipes for NTI/NPI/CQM programmes.
You will support the Engine System Performance Architect in the creation and optimisation of system level performance requirements, defining performance system hardware and software concepts, and collaborating with key Engineering process partners to enable world class Power System solutions to be brought to market.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Convert top level customer and regulatory requirements established by the Product and Legal teams into optimised technical system performance and emissions requirements for specific products/projects
Through Systems Engineering, set-based development, execute simulation and analysis to define the Performance and Emissions recipes that will be used in production for specific products/projects and support the Performance Architect in ensuring that product lines meet customer and regulation Performance and Emissions requirements from concept through production.
Lead projects in new product introduction or current product support areas to deliver engine power system solutions to meet product and regulatory requirements.
Lead issue investigations for complex systems interaction issues in NPI and/or current product spaces, working closely with customers, suppliers and process partners.
Define and evaluate the new technology for power system performance architecture from idea conception through concept evaluation to concept demonstration.
Collaborate with Engineering Process Partners, Product Engineering Managers, NPI managers and support Performance Architect in key Product Development Excellence Initiatives and projects.
Collaborate with the teams System Simulation Expert to define, develop, and execute the teams next generation ‘Simulation Led’ Virtual System Performance development processes and tools.
Collaborate with the teams System Performance ‘New Technology Introduction’ Expert to develop future Technology Strategies and System Architecture roadmaps, fundamental to sustaining the future development of advanced Power System Solutions.
Provide key inputs to decisions that may significantly impact product performance, durability, reliability, quality and serviceability; warranty; cost of non-quality; patents; products or processes; technology; costs; sales; and customer perceptions or may lead revolutionary technology change.
Skills and Experience:
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
An accredited Engineering, Bachelors/Masters degree or PhD or a track record of relevant engine performance experience and excellent analytical skills.
Progressive experience in combined Engine, Aftertreatment and controls system performance development, simulation, and calibration.
Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
Able to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
Ability to build effective relationships across a matrix organization
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Deep Technical knowledge and experience of Engine & Aftertreatment Systems Integration
Project Management experience
Experience with end-customer applications
Fundamental understanding of Systems Engineering methodologies and tools
Experience of Product technical issue root cause and resolution
Experience of 1-D engine simulation
Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink
