Overview: Aston Carter is partnering with a local manufacturing company to hire a Payroll Accountant (3+ month contract). This company is an industry leader and offers growth opportunities.
Description:
Responsible for payroll and benefits accounting, analysis, and reporting.
Responsible for ensuring payroll and benefits transactions are accurate, appropriately booked, and reconciled.
Manage month-end/quarter end close.
Analyze monthly P&L and Balance sheet activity.
Create and post journal entries for general, payroll, and benefits accounting.
Perform month end balance sheet reconciliations inside of Blackline.
Ensure monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts are accurate, submitted in a timely fashion, and fully supported with proper documentation.
Complete monthly tie outs for balance sheet movement as well as maintain commentary on balance sheet/income statement flux.
Conduct data base mining and interpretation.
Manage tight deadlines for close and reporting purposes.
Document/update processes and continue to look for new ways to improve accurate and efficient practices.
Continually focus on improving systematic approach to identifying, solving, and preventing problems.
Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
Collaborate with external/internal auditors and tax.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
BS/BA in Accounting required.
CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Public accounting experience desired.
3 plus year’s previous accounting experience in a large corporate accounting environment.
Demonstrated experience with general accounting, ERP systems (SAP), reporting packages (OneStream), WorkDay, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of earnings, GL, and deduction codes
Understanding of GAAP and SOX controls.
Need to be a team member and enjoy collaboration.
Be able to analyze gross amounts of data and understand what the transactions represent.
Work Environment:
Remote days are Monday and Friday
Open to fully remote candidates if all qualifications are met
Month end close is fully remote
