In this role, you'll actively contribute to defining and evolving standard practices and procedures. You'll be responsible for developing, designing, and debugging software applications or operating systems.Your work will be non-routine and highly complex, requiring advanced technical and business skills in your area of specialization.

As a key member of the division, you'll assist in defining and developing software for tasks related to developing, debugging, or designing networking software applications or operating systems. You'll provide technical leadership to other software developers and specify, design, and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet evolving needs.

Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team is a new ground-up effort to build Infrastructure-as-a-Service that operates at a high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best-in-class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives.

You will design and build innovative new systems from the ground up and be a part of a group that is technically grounded and experienced. Our goal is to use software to speed up traditionally slow, manual infrastructure tasks, doing in hours what used to take days or weeks. You will own parts of the software design and development of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure ( https://cloud.oracle.com/cloud-infrastructure ) .

We’re looking for a hands-on software engineer (Principal) with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services, revolutionize how we manage the physical infrastructure underneath this new cloud. You should be both a rock-solid developer and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years of relevant experience delivering and operating large software systems at scale.

BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Proficient in at least one (preferably two) of the following languages: Java, C/C++, C# or GoLang

Strong grasp of computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems fundamentals)

Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and standard network architectures

Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

Working familiarity with UNIX operating system and related tools

Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,000 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
