Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Torrance, CA that possess experience in commercial, military, educational, and industrial building design, HVAC, plumbing and fire protection.Responsibilities:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will handle coordination with each applicable state agency and AHJs, including the Division of the State Architect (DSA), Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), the Department of Healthcare Access and Information (HCAI), and city and county building departments
Interface with clients, agency project managers, construction managers, and engineers and architects; Typical projects include all disciplines and entail detailed design of construction documents
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will meet with clients to understand project needs
Conduct job walks, write proposals and follow-up with client, prepare studies and assessments, develop engineering drawings and specifications to specified standards, prepare cost estimates, and transform concept designs into working documents using AutoCAD
During construction, you will respond to field questions, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction meetings as necessary to resolve field questions
Experience with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review process; Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM); Division of State Architect (DSA); Department of Healthcare Access and Information (HCAI/OSHPD); City and county plan check for various locations in California; A working understanding of applicable codes and standards
Project manager experience
Experience managing mechanical engineers and their projects regarding schedule, peer review, quality control, meeting, scope of work, cost, specifications, AHJ review comments/responses, client review comments/responses
Experience communicating with in-house technical team including architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, fire protection engineers, fire alarm engineers, and AutoCAD drafting technicians
Experience coordinating with subcontractors outside of the firm (TAB, lead/asbestos, GPR, soils testing, roof coring, etc.)
Experience with the following: preparing proposals, client interviews, preparing Rough Order-of-Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates, writing technical reports, writing, and editing specifications and MasterSpec, performing quality control and constructability peer reviews and Experience with sustainability conceptual analysis and design
Understanding of all disciplines and pulling complete design packages together
Proficiency in AutoCAD software as AutoCAD is utilized in the preparation of plans and a working knowledge of Revit is a plus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
