Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical design project teams to create world-class designs for projects in the Life Science & Technology market. Areas of emphasis include research laboratories, pharmaceutical production facilities, cleanroom manufacturing, agriculture and biotech research facilities in addition to some commercial and non-classified light industrial manufacturing. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will lead the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to client needs, budget constraints and other design factors. A strong understanding of commercial, industrial, and clean environment HVAC systems design coupled with leadership capabilities to support oversight and responsible charge of all aspects of mechanical design while coordinating with all other disciplines is expected.
HVAC experience in the Life Sciences sector in particular (labs, biotech, cleanroom, pharma production, etc.). Other industrial sectors such as food, consumer products, or manufacturing may contribute if at expert level.
This person will operate independently as a lead engineer with responsible charge over projects with minimal orientation.
This person will actively performing engineering work on projects in addition to oversight efforts with junior personnel, on-the-job mentoring, and networking with other sr personnel nationwide for coordination of resources and priorities.
Responsibilities will include preparing engineering activity workforce hour estimates and support of building mechanical execution plans and proposal narratives in support of business development.
Assistance with oversight of 3-5 local junior engineering resources with the potential to step into section manager role.
Expert level use of other HVAC design software such as Trane Trace is considered a prerequisite.
At least seven years experience in HVAC design of consumer & industrial production construction projects
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from and ABET-accredited program or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related
Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).

Additional experience in other building mechanical systems is highly preferred: plumbing, hydronic systems, chilled water, boilers, steam, high pressure gases, natural gas, dust collection etc.
This role will have separate designer support using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Plant3D but proficiency in these tools would be a plus.
Experience in design-build, design-bid-build, or EPC experience highly preferred.
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus.
Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
