The Position
Responsible for utilities/facilities engineering strategy, process development & management for the site expansion project. Lead & mentor facilities / utilities team, to include creating & maintaining a positive working relationship with site, corporate & global stakeholders. Manage cost, quality & delivery of utilities within budget & alignment with production schedule.

Essential Functions
Build, manage & strategically direct the utilities team, comprised of internal employees (managers & technical individual contributors) & external contractors, to include staff selection, coaching/developing, performance management for internal employees & setting department objectives & expectations
Ensure Good Engineering Practice implementation within the Facilities / Utilities discipline, to include alignment with NN requirements
Support Utilities (Back, Clean, HVAC & BMS) as assigned
Oversee the development of the document management & progress tracking system
Oversee the development & implementation of engineering systems (PDM, PSM & 5S)
Drive continuous process improvement using cLEAN® tools including SPS, process confirmation, & leading key performance indicators
Guide & make technical decisions for the strategy & cGMP/regulatory compliance
Prioritize tasks, ensures timeline adherence, & delivers progression report out based on schedule
Develop & oversee process improvements of standards for engineering processes
Provide & support a professional, engaging, cooperative, & high achieving work environment for employees
Drive technical & maintenance standardization & collaboration to ensure smooth transition of new utilities & facilities to line of business
Contribute to the site Quality Management team through strategy development & risk management
Ensure robust processes are in place to exceed quality objectives & requirement
Oversee configuration of quality / operational systems, ensuring alignment with global requirements
Meet or exceed customer, business, & regulatory requirements in accordance with the NN Way
Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

Physical Requirements
Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Ability to do close precision work with their hands. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting and standing) 50% of the time. May required corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials.
Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of study in an accredited university required
May consider an Associate’s degree engineering technology or related field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of ten (10) years of engineering, maintenance &/or operations experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
May consider a High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of twelve (12) years of engineering, maintenance &/or operations experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
Master’s degree in engineering or related field of study preferred
Minimum of eight (8) years of engineering, maintenance &/or operations experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
Minimum of seven (7) years of direct supervisory experience required
Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience preferred
LEAN experience required, preferably certified within Novo Nordisk framework
Ability to drive process solutions by working proactively with a broad range of user stakeholders required
Advanced knowledge of black utilities systems that includes chilled water, plant steam, compressed air, electrical distribution & potable water, fire, waste systems & wastewater required
Advanced knowledge of clean utilities systems that includes process water, clean steam, process air, vacuum, cryogenic storage required
Advanced knowledge of raw material & hazardous waste handling processes in the pharmaceutical industry required
Experience working with external engineering consultants & ensuring integration of NN requirements required
Strong written & verbal communication skills to support positive interaction with all levels of operations & management required
Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution & revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams required
