Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Back End (Golang, AWS)

We are seeking Back End Software Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies. As a Capital One Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

The DPI (Data Product Interface) team, within Card LOB, is delivering Capital One’s declared destination Enterprise Platform providing consumers access to Capital One’s most critical data as Data Products. We’re leveraging GraphQL technology and partnering with Enterprise teams to establish the first federated supergraph for Capital One. The team is spread across the McLean, Richmond and Chicago locations and enjoy having fun together alongside driving forward important work for the enterprise. This specific tech team is focused on foundational subgraph generation capabilities leveraging GqlGen Go library, managing and moderating contributions to the core of the platform and establishment of federation principles and practices. This is a challenging but high impact position where you’ll get a solid mix of diving deep technically while working with your team to build industry leading tech solutions and working across teams to collaborate on the vision and destination capabilities of DPI for Card and the broader enterprise.

What You’ll Do:

Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company

Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code

Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment

Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)

At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

At least 4 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree

5+ years of experience in Go

2+ years of experience working with GraphQL

3+ years of experience working with AWS

4+ years of experience in open source frameworks

7+ years of people management experience

2+ years of experience in Agile practices
