Senior Lead Engineer at TSI
The Senior Lead Engineer is a high-profile position, supportingDICKEY-john, with overall technical responsibility for developinghigh-quality solutions to customer needs, as well as managing a diversetechnical staff. This role requires both supervising and demonstrating athorough understanding of systems thinking applied to productdevelopment, including a broad working knowledge of mechanicalengineering, electrical engineering, firmware, software, reliabilitytesting, verification, validation, and production. This person will be amember of a new product development (NPD) leadership team, working withthe product/marketing manager to oversee one or more projects. Inaddition, the Senior Lead Engineer must effectively communicatetechnical status to OEM customers, as well as senior management, andacross functional teams that span all engineering disciplines,marketing, sales, quality, supply chain, and operations.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will:
Lead the development of the overall technical solution for newproduct development projects. This includes development of productrequirements and a system architecture to achieve those productrequirements. It also includes providing system guidance toengineers in various disciplines (mechanical, electrical, firmware,and software) and validating that the designs developed by thevarious disciplines integrate correctly and address the productrequirements.Generate technical requirements based on customer requirements,technical tradeoffs (cost vs. function vs. time-to-market vs.quality), compliance, manufacturing, and service requirements. Workwith the product manager to validate customer requirements, based onthe tradeoffs arising from them.Develop architectures capable of meeting the technical and productrequirements. Consider portioning of project into modular subsystemsand interfaces, tradeoffs of the proposed design, and reuse ofmodules.Provide high level guidance to the engineering (mechanical,electrical hardware, firmware, and desktop/cloud software) teammembers and validate the output from these teams in the context ofthe project. Evaluate engineering alternatives, understand teamcapabilities, improve collaboration/interfaces, and reduce risksbetween the engineering disciplines.Supervise a technical team, including interviewing, hiring,coaching, career development, and performance management.Gather, develop, and maintain the project schedule. Run projectmeetings and assign tasks to the technical team. Report out onproject technical and schedule status.Work with the engineering team to drive the completion of thesubsystems and to integrate them together. Validate the quality andfitness for purpose of the various subsystems developed by theindividual engineering contributors.Be the technical interface with OEM customers to communicate projectschedule, technical status, and risks.Ensure compliance, verification and validation test methods andmeasurements ensure con ormance to the product requirements.Exhibit high attention to detail and strong organizational skills,including engineering knowledge capture, transfer, presentation, anddissemination during and after a project completion.Exhibit excellent communications skills, including demonstratedability to effectively present information/status to seniormanagement team, customers, project-team members, vendors, andcross-functional stakeholders of the product development process.What Do You Need?
