DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) is a nonprofit organization working to help people with the complex needs of homelessness, substance use disorders, and serious mental illness achieve their highest potential for health and well-being through comprehensive services, treatment, and housing. JOB DEFINITION:
The primary focus of this role will be on employee relations and investigations, supporting the Senior Human Resources Managers in day-to-day activities, and collaborating with other supervisors to draft and review warning letters and corrective action plans. Additionally, this position will provide valuable assistance to the Employee Engagement Manager in their initiatives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in employee complaints, grievances, or misconduct issues.
Provide timely and well-documented reports on investigation findings, making recommendations for appropriate actions.
Provide information for unemployment claims as required and participate in unemployment hearings.
Assist Senior HR Managers in daily operational tasks and activities.
Serve as a point of contact for HR-related inquiries and concerns.
Contribute to the development of training programs for managers and employees on employee relations best practices.
Collaborate with supervisors to draft and review warning letters, ensuring clarity and adherence to company policies.
Provide guidance on appropriate corrective action plans.
Support the Employee Engagement Manager in planning and executing employee engagement initiatives.
Contribute to the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving employee morale, motivation, and satisfaction.
Coordinating support groups with facilitators
Scheduling/announcing support groups
Sending reminders and other admin for engagement survey, etc.
Assistance compiling swag/awards/etc. and/or running reports, etc. to determine need
Scheduling stay interviews/exit interviews
Performs other duties as assigned.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of HR experience, or
Associate degree and four years of HR experience, or
Five years of HR experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

$89,173.44 - $100,873.68 annually
