HDR is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support our expandingColorado geotechnical practice. This role involves planning, organizing,and coordinating the work of entry and mid-level professionals.Primary DutiesHelp lead, plan, execute, and complete geotechnical tasks on assignedprojects independently and collaboratively with a focus on transportation andresources projects in and around ColoradoReview design and construction submittals for geotechnical compliance withapplicable codes, design standards, project requirements, and contractdocumentsGeotechnical investigations and design activities for projects such asroadways, retaining walls, hydraulic structures, bridges, and railroadsInvolvement in communication with both internal and external clientsGeotechnical technical analyses, preparation of proposals and reports, andcoordination with designers and contractors to implement recommendations onplans and in the fieldEngage in supporting the development of the technical scope of works and feeproposals, as well as responses to RFPs related to geotechnical servicesParticipate in marketing efforts of both internal and external clientsFunction as a Project Manager on certain projects as needed, but projectmanagement is not the sole focus of this position
Core Competencies for a successful candidateMust be able to independently make decisions and recommendations that willimpact a project's activities and directionBe a technical leader in projects and tasks involving geotechnicalengineering.Be knowledgeable of today's technical standards, including but not limitedto AASHTO LRFD, FHWA, etc.Exhibit excellent communication skills, and ability to work collaborativelywith team members and clients and demonstrate expertise in managing severalcomplex tasks simultaneouslyQualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in geotechnical engineering or closely relatedfield with a focus on soil mechanics, shallow and deep foundationengineering and earth retaining structuresPE required, ability to obtain Colorado PE within six (6) months ofjoining HDR.Minimum of 10 years of experience in the general field of geotechnicalengineeringProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other relevant softwareAbility to independently support proposal preparation and generategeotechnical data/engineering reportsExperience with the review of other's work for compliance with projecttechnical requirements as applied to project submittalsAbility to independently complete and/or coordinate analyses associated withthe settlement, slope stability and embankment design, foundationdesign, seismic analysis, ground modification design, retaining walldesign, lateral deep foundation responseStrong oral and written communication skills and proven ability to work in avery collaborative team environment.Successful candidates will have an attitude and commitment to being activeparticipants in our employee-owned culture
