Summary
UES has an opening for a Senior Environmental Technician /Project Hygienist in our Environmental Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.
This position requires experience conducting asbestos inspections, mold assessments, indoor air quality assessments, environmental sampling (e.g., drinking water sampling, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, etc.), exposure monitoring, and/or other industrial hygiene related work is a plus. Experience with environmental construction oversight, contractor management, stormwater inspections (during and post-construction fixed systems), and environmental remediation O&M. Experience in performing troubleshooting, repair, and upgrades of existing remediation systems and new remedial system installation oversight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project and program coordination/management.
Communicating results and project status with other project staff and managers as well as external clients.
Effective interaction and communication with property managers, facilities managers, contractors, homeowners, and other stakeholders.
Water/groundwater/wastewater/storm water/soil/soil gas sampling coordination and team management.
Assisting project and contract managers with preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
Collecting building material samples for asbestos content, mold growth, and other potentially hazardous materials.
Determine appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies for remedial or abatement projects and provide oversight for these activities.
Maintain, operate, and calibrate a variety of sampling and monitoring equipment for both environmental and industrial hygiene projects.
Assist with development of detailed mold inspection/assessment reports, and mold remediation protocols.
Write asbestos inspection reports.
Assist with NPDES permitting, sampling and reporting.
Requirements
High School Diploma / GED
Bachelor’s degree in geology, biology, chemistry, engineering or related field suggested, but not required based on level of experience and qualifications.
10-15 years of experience minimum.
Must be able and willing to work outside in the field for 8 hours or as needed, often in rough terrain and hot/humid conditions.
Ability to perform physical functions per essential duties and responsibilities.
Must be able to travel 10% (Domestic only) with overnight travel (1 or 2 days at a time) on a minimal basis.
Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
Licenses and Certifications
TN Accredited Asbestos Building Inspector
TN Accredited Asbestos Project Monitor
ACM certifications in other surrounding States (i.e., AL, KY, GA, FL, etc.)
TNEPSC Level 1
TDEC-DUST CAS Specialist
40-HR HAZWOPER
TN Certified SCM Inspection and Maintenance
Other licenses/certifications will be considered
