Position Description:
The Senior Environmental Manager will provide overall management of and direction for the remediation of NCR Voyix environmental sites. This responsibility includes consultation with company management, providing recommendations on remediation strategies and implementation, site remediation management, budgeting, management of consultants and financial reserves, coordination with other potentially responsible parties, representing the company before and interacting with various regulatory agencies, and as necessary acting as the company representative in environmental-related litigations. Expected travel is approximately 25% within the US. The position will report to the Law Vice President for Litigation.
Essential Functions:
Directs the remediation of NCR Voyix environmental sites and assists the NCR Voyix law department with environmental liabilities to ensure regulatory and legal requirements are met.
Develops strategies for forward looking environmental liability management, including mitigation and avoidance.
Prepares environmental site remediation strategies and directs environmental consultants in implementation of the strategies, including review of submittals to regulatory agencies.
Oversees consultants to ensure projects are compliant with regulatory requirements and completed within budget and in a cost-effective manner.
Interfaces and negotiates with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to avoid or minimize expense and to deliver solutions in the best interest of the company.
Advise management of spend forecasts, including management of reserves, through quarterly and ad hoc reviews with the company’s law and finance departments.
Provide technical advice in support of litigation and, as necessary, act as the company’s representative in litigation.
Manage 3rd party indemnitor payment obligations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in relevant field (e.g., Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental or Civil Engineering); Master’s degree is a plus.
More than 10 years’ experience managing environmental remediation projects, with 5 years of such experience with a corporate responsible party preferred.
Knowledge of current and emerging remediation technologies for soil, groundwater, and sediment contamination.
Strong ability to articulate and present complex technical issues to lay audiences.
Self-Driven and must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
