Minimum Qualifications In order to be considered for a permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable from the current eligible list; OR be eligible for reassignment; OR be eligible for transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list to be considered for permanent appointment to the position.Minimum qualifications are as follows:Engineering Technician Trainee, NS=Grade 8:1. Either 1. one year of experience assisting in engineering, engineering technology, engineering management technology, architecture or architectural technology, environmental technology, electronics, electronics technology, landscape design, materials laboratory technology, drafting or surveying, AND graduation from high school or possession of diploma issued by a recognized educational authority;2. Or 2. 18 semester credit hours of college course work in mathematics, physical science, geology, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture/design, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, electronics, or electronics technology;3. Or 3. graduation from a high school technical program (recognized by an accrediting agency as meeting acceptable program practices and standards) in CAD/CAM, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, electronics, or electronics technology.IMPORTANT: If you are using college coursework to qualify for this examination, you MUST provide additional course information on your application demonstrating you have earned the required number of credits. Duties Description In the Office of Structures, under the supervision of a Professional Engineer 1, the incumbents may: • Prepare drawings of moderate to complex difficulty for a variety of structural engineering projects using MicroStation CADD software. • Prepare and check engineering computations of moderate difficulty. • Prepare and check quantity estimates. • Perform field investigations to collect or confirm data. • Develop and utilize complete physical engineering models for design, clash detection, visualization, construction coordination, contract plan preparation, and estimating. • Special assignments to address management needs.
