Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s TMNA Plastics Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Senior Engineer, Plastics Planning .
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead Plastics’ PE pre-production activities to ensure the successful launch of new products at our manufacturing facilities.
Reporting to the Planning, Manager, the person in this role will support the Plastics department's objective to develop and improve competitive manufacturing processes through effective project planning.
What you’ll be doing
Create pre-production and manufacturing strategies for new model projects across all North American Manufacturing Centers
Lead investment and plant loading studies for current and new model projects
Utilize technical skills and know-how to develop high-level shop floor layout and process flow diagrams to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost project KPIs
Communicate through visualization to diverse audiences of co-workers, North American Manufacturing Centers, and Toyota Motor North America executives.
Develop and roll out North American Manufacturing Center-wide initiatives to improve manufacturing competitiveness.
Collaborate across sections, departments, and North American Manufacturing Centers to ensure sustainable product planning throughout the life of the vehicle
Drive kaizen, innovation, and the Toyota Way philosophy with a lead-by-example approach in your daily activities.
Gain consensus with North American Manufacturing Centers on project-related items (Budget development, Equipment loading, Handover criteria, Project R&R, and etc)
Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills
What you bring
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or 5+ years of equivalent Engineering experience
5+ years experience in manufacturing or Production Engineering
2+ years experience in Project Leadership role in new model development activity including schedule creation, budget management, and executive report-outs
Successful Budget development/creation and approval of 2+ projects of >$250,000 USD
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
Ability to travel internationally including Japan, Mexico, and Canada
Added bonus if you have
Successful Budget development/creation and approval of 2+ projects of >$250,000 USD
Experience working in CATIA/XVL environments for part viewing, measurement, and part assembly creation.
Experience building reports/flows in Microsoft PowerBi, Power Automate, and/or Forms
Proficient in AUTOCAD drafting of equipment/plant layouts
