About Senior Director, Green Hydrogen Project Development

  Job Summary:

  Tenaska Development is one of the country's leading renewable energy developers, with more than 25 GW of renewable projects in development across the United States and significant growth planned in the near future, including a focus on green hydrogen development. The Senior Director, Green Hydrogen Project Development is responsible for the successful development of green hydrogen electrolyzers and associated renewable energy projects. The Senior Director is expected to manage relationships with the local community, prepare a development plan including detailed project schedule and budget and manage project development according to budget and schedule. The Senior Director is also expected to oversee internal and external reporting obligations for, and ensure compliance with, key contracts with development customers and partners. Finally, the Senior Director will be responsible for building and managing a team of green hydrogen project developers, commensurate with growth in Tenaska's green hydrogen development business.

  Essential Job Functions:

  Lead all development activities for green hydrogen and associated renewable energy development projects, from site origination to completion of land acquisition, receipt of discretionary permits, execution of interconnection agreements and start of construction. Work with senior management to develop and expand the green hydrogen development team through hiring and talent development, commensurate with growth in Tenaska's green hydrogen development business. Manage and mentor green hydrogen team members and supporting staff. Develop, implement, enhance and use management tools, processes and procedures to manage a pipeline of green hydrogen and associated renewable energy development projects. Manage project site origination for green hydrogen production facilities, derivative product facilities and associated renewable energy facilities. Coordinate activities between various internal and third-party subject matter experts involved with the development process, including community relations, real estate, legal, interconnection and transmission, environmental and permitting and engineering. Manage land acquisition and title curative efforts for development projects, including selection and training of land agent teams. Foster relationships with local landowners, politicians and regulators to garner support for development projects and minimize opposition. Participate in public relations efforts, including participation in interviews and providing input on press releases and informational materials. Support transmission experts in preparing and filing interconnection requests (generator and load) and in monitoring the interconnection study process. Coordinate for delivery of site and environmental studies, surveys and diligence reports. Maintain and keep current mapping information for project locations, site plans, transmission lines and points of interconnection. Manage project information for development projects, ensuring timely and accurate distribution and filing of key project documents and compiling information into project dashboards. Make presentations on project status, schedule, budget and key issues to senior management and development partners. Identify issues which may impede successful development, identify potential solutions and report issues and solutions to senior management in a timely manner. Must be able to travel on short notice for domestic overnight business. Reliable, dependable and predictable attendance is required.

  Education/Experience/Skills:

  Basic Requirements:

  Bachelor's degree required. Ten years of energy development experience or related experience required, with extensive knowledge of the full-cycle development process. Demonstrated track record of successful project development in the energy field. Experience managing and growing teams of three or more energy developers. Experience managing cross-functional teams of internal and external third-party experts. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Excitement for green hydrogen and renewable energy project development. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and willingness to learn similar graphically-oriented software platforms such as Smartsheet, as well as experience using project mapping tools like Google Earth.

  Preferred Requirements:

  Energy development experience in Texas as well as experience or knowledge of several energy markets, including MISO, PJM, ERCOT, SPP and the Western Interconnection. Familiarity with green hydrogen electrolysis facilities and/or industrial process plants. Successfully taken multiple energy development projects from inception to start of construction. Experience working with contract land agents and third-party public relations firms. Outstanding ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including creating effective Power Point presentations. Strong organizational, business decision making and analytical skills. Detail oriented, analytical mindset and inquisitive attitude. Proactive approach toward identifying and solving problems, as well as seeking challenging experiences. Strong work ethic, team attitude and willingness to work extended hours and travel up to 50%.
