Senior Director, Global Maintenance Operations and Standards
The Senior Director, Global Maintenance Operations and Standards supports the Global Data Center Operations regional leads by optimizing the company’s Maintenance Management strategy for all sites. This includes monitoring and improving maintenance practices and schedules, ensuring Data Center equipment uptime. This position is based in the US, preferably near an existing data center location or US office.
Primary Responsibilities
Function as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all aspects of Global Preventive and Corrective Maintenance. Focus on all maintenance processes to reduce potential equipment failures.
Serve as the Operations project manager for long-term maintenance events, such as: high voltage substations, switchgear, transformers, etc.
Develop and maintain the company’s maintenance training program to ensure proper skill levels for internal technicians to optimize maintenance performance.
Create an audit program to evaluate the overall maintenance program to include evidence of proper maintenance, training, adequate parts on-hand, Mean-Time-To-Repair.
Lead the CMMS team to evaluate TCO effectiveness and budgeting for maximizing asset expected lifetimes.
Evaluate and select and review all Vendors performance with the Engineering team to identify and hire best in class service providers.
Review problem databases to evaluate the effectiveness of the maintenance system for reducing equipment failures.
Provide global feedback related to maintenance and collaboration with cross functional teams for continuous improvement of internal processes.
Identify opportunities to increase equipment reliability and uptime, reduce costs and associated work.
Participate in any root cause analysis events as they relate to maintenance activities.
Create, deploy, and share best practices at the global level and share with all regional directors globally.
Work with critical support vendors to ensure maintenance aligns with manufacturer warranty and guidelines.
Specific Skills and Experience
Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to assist in coordinating facility/utility system maintenance activities.
Must have knowledge of reliability centered maintenance principles and maintenance strategies.
Must have experience with maintenance best practices such as Precision Maintenance techniques (e.g. dynamic balancing, equipment alignment, equipment repair standards, etc.).
Must have experience with predictive maintenance technologies (i.e., Vibration, Tribology, Thermography, Ultrasound, Motor Circuit Analysis).
Experience in critical facility operations, project management, and process and procedure improvement development.
Understanding of the impact on the data center infrastructure while conducting maintenance.
Significant proven knowledge of good maintenance practices grounded in experience.
Experience with leading and delivering technical training.
Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff including management.

Education and Experience Levels
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other technical field, or Electrician background and/or equivalent work experience in this field.
10+ years of maintenance and/or reliability experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, military or related environment.
10+ years of data analysis experience in the facilities maintenance program, specifically in asset management and maintenance optimization.
5+ years working experience working with enterprise asset management software suite or CMMS/DCIM platforms
Candidates with PMI certification or related experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Significant travel is required for this position as EdgeConneX has a global footprint and site visits are critical to performing in this role. Travel is expected to be 30-50%.

EdgeConneX offers a competitive benefits package. The preferred pay range for this position is $165,000 to $170,000. Compensation will be finalized after consideration of the successful applicant’s prior work experience, education level and relevant education, and unique skills.
