The Facilities Services & Planning (“FS&P”) division plays a key role in helping Stanford Health Care accomplish this mission. With a fast-paced, tech-savvy and lean culture that focuses on goals, metrics and continuous improvement, FS&P provides non-clinical operational support to Stanford Health Care and other Stanford Medicine entities to ensure safe and successful non-clinical operations 24/7 and plan for the organization’s future facility needs.

  Site Support Services is one of FS&P’s business units and provides the property/facility management and various facilities services at over 150 clinics and administrative facilities across the San Francisco Bay Area. This includes managing over 3.2 million square feet of space on behalf of various Stanford Medicine entities like Stanford Health Care, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, and Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley. Site Support Services scope includes system engineering, facility maintenance, construction project management, customer and vendor management, property and landlord management, housekeeping, food service, security and more. Site Support Services has a staff of over 200 engineers/technicians, facility managers, housekeepers, and administrative staff and manages a budget of over $60M in operating and capital expenses and revenues. The large footprint and diverse range of work requires dedicated and specialized staff members who can work in various environments and on strict timelines.   Stanford Health Care is recruiting for a Senior Director – Facilities Services who is responsible for strategic oversight of the administrative, operational, and finance functions of areas within Facilities Services which include Engineering, Maintenance, and Off-Site Construction/Project Management. Facilities services primary functions are to ensure:

  • facilities remain operational (building infrastructure, building management systems, fire/life safety, work orders, and preventative/corrective maintenance)

  • regulatory compliance: The Joint Commission (TJC), building codes (Title 24 Parts 1-6), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD)

  • facilities upkeep – paint, finishes, grounds, signage, lighting

  • waste stream and utilities are managed

  • construction services and projects are managed - minor tenant improvements, equipment installations, support work

  The Senior Director reports to the Executive Director and is an on-site position within the Bay Area with some remote flexibility a day or two a week. The general responsibilities of the Senior Director – Facilities Services include: customer interface to ensure operational needs are met; oversight of building operations to ensure regional facilities remain operational; oversight of construction and capital projects; and oversight of finances to include both capital and operational budgets. The Senior Director – Facilities Services will be responsible for the management of personnel resources including hiring decisions; vendor and staff management of 100+ team members, oversight of adherence to regulatory requirements; collaboration with other FS&P departments and Stanford Medicine entities to meet strategic needs.

  A Brief Overview

  The Admin Director of Facilities Services will be responsible for strategic oversight of the administrative, operations and finance functions of areas which include: Property Services, Engineering & Maintenance, Engineering Project Office, Fleet Management and Grounds to achieve optimal operation of the physical plant and environment of the facilities and of the fleet. General responsibilities are: customer interface to ensure operational needs met; oversight of building operations; oversight of finances to include both capital and expense budgets; oversight of personnel resources to include hiring and firing decisions; oversight of adherence to regulatory requirements; development and implementation of quality indicators and dashboards to measure outcomes; collaboration with General Services and other Hospital departments to meet strategic needs.

  What you will do

  Develops and implements metrics and/or dashboard as appropriate to measure outcomes.

  Develops and implements strategic financial direction in three to five year time frames to align with Hospital strategic mission.

  Directs department operational financial/budget activity from planning to preparation to execution to obtaining funding as appropriate.

  Interfaces with customers on a regular basis to stay abreast of facilities issues and assure operational needs met. Incorporate needs assessments into strategic planning and implementation. Develop and implement feedback tool to measure satisfaction.

  Oversees adherence and compliance to regulations, laws and codes using the appropriate technological tools to manage and measure. Oversee adherence to SUMC policies and procedures.

  Oversees management and administration of service contracts; real estate lease agreements; the Inter-Entity

  Agreement and other contractual agreements for adherence to terms and conditions per strategic goals.

  Oversees management of operations activities for optimal functioning of the physical plant and environment of the main SHC Hospital and off-campus SHC/LPCH facilities and fleet. Includes oversight of construction projects for compliance, repair and refurbishment. Also, includes oversight of information technology tools. Oversees personnel management to include hire/fire; employee engagement; growth/contraction strategies and resource allocation.

  Participate in various other committees to include but not be limited to Space Planning Committee; Finance & Business Council; Director's Forum.

  Participates in organization-wide disaster preparedness committees as appropriate to the position. Participate in the Environment of Care Steering Committee.

  Education Qualifications

  Job requires a Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.Experience Qualifications

  Knowledge and understanding of financial and statistical activity reports

  Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management

  Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $94.28 - $124.90 per hour

  The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
