This is a full-time remote Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Senior Developer position. SUMMARY: Responsible for activities related to the Software Development Life Cycle (design, build, test, and deploy). Providing programming, training, implementation, and support of medium to high-complexity software applications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the primary duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and require specific job-related knowledge and skills. Designs, develops and maintains Pace's software applications, providing strategic operational and competitive functionality. Researches and promotes methodologies, tools, workflow processes, architecture, and technologies. Provide proactive strategic guidance to drive solutions toward broad leveragability across business variations and domains. Continuously improve the technical depth and domain knowledge. Mentors others through pair programming. Researches and evaluates industry trends, APIs, upgrades, and frameworks to ensure effective and efficient operational capabilities. Leads project teams (business and IT) to define, design, develop, and implement applications and surrounding processes; engages with departments to achieve process improvements, systems capability, and cost-efficiency. Leads development team members in overall project estimation, including accounting for the impact of various integrated systems and/or platforms and database needs. Develop strategic alliances with business counterparts to understand business processes and challenges, listening for opportunities where IT can automate workflow or create competitive advantages. Monitors and conducts code reviews, ensuring projects meet application architectural objectives; set an example for other team members. Contributes toward application development, meeting architectural guidelines and business requirements. Provides Help Desk, Issue Trak, and production support of web applications, including on-call rotation assignments. Develop testing metrics and processes; ensure metrics are integrated within the build and deployment process. Ensures QA has all information required for thorough and successful testing of User Stories and Bugs. Leads team building best practices; transparency, trust, code reviews, documentation. Leads development and maintenance of user documentation; trains others in system usage. Reviews production release pipeline and provides technical review, suggestions, and assistance for production release. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work. Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are represented by the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degr e in computer science, information systems, or a related field; AND ten (10) years of professional software development, support experience, technical leadership, and mentoring of developers; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; lab industry experience is a plus. Required Knowledge and Skills Data Warehousing, OLAP Data Modeling, ETL/ELT, Change Data Capture(CDC), Data Replication Strong planning, time-management, and organization skills to balance and prioritize work. Able to work with little or no oversight. Research, promote, and mentor others in the use of architectural and development methodologies, design patterns, and integration. Lead the team through recommended changes. Lead in using principles and practices of software development, maintenance, and implementation. A strong understanding of and experience in the various IT roles and SDLCs, including Waterfall and Agile. Experience with modern languages and development techniques. Strong unit, integration, and automated testing approach and tools. Leading development teams and the development of their technical skills. Excellent communication and human relations skills, including communicating complex ideas, negotiating, influencing, and fostering collaboration between disparate groups. Ability to negotiate toward positive outcomes when conflicting opinions surrounding requirements or processes arise. Comfortable driving progress despite ambiguity and/or evolving requirements and priorities. Build strong, collaborative relationships with executives, business partners, IT leadership, architects, and development teams. Demonstrates strong creative thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to define testing plans and to support complex support activities as needed.
