Position Description
If you love high-profile, challenging, and diverse work, then this position is for you! As a Senior Data Visualization Analyst, you will support the Department of the Navy (DON) Process Improvement Office (PIO).
Must live in the Washington, DC area/ National Capitol Region and work onsite at the Pentagon 2 days per week; remote work 3 days per week.
ACTIVE SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
In this role you will:
Drive significant impact and value through the development, maintenance, and management of Qlik Sense dashboards and solutions.
Collect and analyze data from multiple databases and sources to create visualizations to assist and convey insights in an intuitive, informative, and compelling way to decision makers and performs a variety of complicated tasks.
May lead and direct the work of others; Typically reports to a project leader or manager.
Having a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Serve as team technical expert and consultant with expertise in advanced analytics modeling & data visualization.
Responsible for the correlation, design and development of compelling data visualizations collected from various sources and databases via a variety of techniques to be presented in written and oral methods to all levels of customer management.
Utilize experience with Qlik Sense, SQL, and Databricks, and exhibit an eagerness to learn new technologies.
Analyze data to identify known and unknown data relationships and patterns.
Transforming data sets through quantitative and qualitative analysis into compelling visuals that help inform decision making and improve the value of the DON enterprise.
Ability to manipulate large data sets and use them to identify trends and reach meaningful conclusions to inform strategic business decisions.
Present data-driven insights and address questions from a non-technical audience.
Understand data gaps that tie data components together for visualization purposes.
Effectively partner with a cross-contractor team while receiving input from a non-technical client.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile, and identify gaps, uncover unmet business needs and work with data engineering, solution architect to create a finished solution.
Collaborate with other data professionals to extract data, create reports based on their findings, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to determine business initiatives’ success.
Work with executives and other business leaders to identify opportunities for improvement.
Transform data into insight that can help to improve the value of the DON enterprise.
Use knowledge of the specific data available, forecasting/analysis methods and visualization capabilities to enhance requirements and provide insightful suggestions to business stakeholders.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the available knowledge management platforms in the Department of the Navy (DON) and OPNAV (e.g., Flank Speed, MSFT SharePoint, MS Teams, Power BI); provide recommendations for knowledge management processes.
Qualifications
To be successful in this roll, you will have:
An active DoD Secret clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in data science, operations research, computer science, IT, math or related field (5 years of relative experience in lieu of degree).
8+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, data science, or operations research.
Ability to manipulate raw data into effective visualization dashboards.
Experience with Qlik Sense application and/or other data visualization software, and/or strong data visualization skills.
Experience compiling, organizing, and cleaning data for input into dashboards or business intelligence tools.
Additional desired experience and skills:
Master’s degree in data science, operations research, computer science, IT, math or similar.
Employing Qlik Sense within the Advana/Jupiter data analytics platform.
Creating and deploying Qlik load scripts to load and build data models.
Experience with SharePoint content management.
Experience with SharePoint content management and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python for Databricks in ADVANA.
Qlik administration using the QMC.
Support staff experience at DoN, OPNAV, NAVSEA, Program Executive Offices (PEOs)/Program Offices, or other Pentagon Offices.
Experience includes regular interactions with staff and senior leadership internal and external to affiliated organization.
