Minimum of two years’ experience in post-bachelor’s experience working in student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience
Experience in program development, assessment, and public speaking
Experience with large scale programming, event planning or project management
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies both on and off campus
Strong written, interpersonal, and inclusive communication
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or other advanced degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or related field.
Demonstrated involvement in a related professional association ( AHEPPP , NODA , etc.)
Experience with student support and retention initiatives
Experience designing and constructing spaces designed to enhance student success
Experience working in an auxiliary unit and/or managing fee-based programs or services
Job Description
The Senior Coordinator of Family Experiences leads and manages initiatives which welcome, transition, and effectively support parents and family members of students attending Texas State University. The Senior Coordinator will be responsible for aspects of vision, program and service delivery, quality control, risk management, constituent engagement, resource development, and fiscal management which align with and contribute to division and university vision, mission, and goals for enrollment and student success. Collectively, these efforts will contribute to building, supporting, and centering new student and family orientation, transition, and retention experiences as an important factor in creating campus culture, fostering sense of belonging, student persistence, and academic success and well-being.
Job Duties
Program Management:
Develop and host an educational and engaging experience for over 4,000 new families during New Student Orientation
Coordinate annual Family Weekend experience for 1,000-4,000 individuals to connect families to the life of the university
Administer scholarship programs and competitions to award over $25,000 of financial resources to current students
Assist with the development and implementation of department-wide programs including New Student Orientation, Welcome week, Family Weekend, and other new orientation, transition and retention initiatives
Constituent Engagement:
Oversee communication and engagement with families through established communication channels including the Bobcat Family Portal, social media and webpages
Chair Family Weekend Collaborative Project Team consisting of internal and external stakeholders to host an engaging weekend-long program of activities
Chair the Parent and Family Advisory Council, consisting of 20 parents and family members, to provide input regarding communication, events, and services for parents and family members
Resource Development:
Develop and execute print and electronic resources to serve families
Distribute resources in Spanish to serve our diverse population of parents and family members
Fiscal Management:
Steward revenue accounts totaling over $250,000 and multiple endowed scholarships
Lead successful annual fundraising for the Family Association, a dues-based membership for parents and family members
