We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Job Snapshot:
As a Senior Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you will make a difference! The field testing and observations of construction materials you perform each day help ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. You will see construction projects from beginning to end, documenting the successful placement and use of soil, concrete, rebar, asphalt, aggregate, and other building materials. It is our job to make sure it is "built right", and at SandME we take that responsibility very seriously. Join us and become part of the team that makes construction a success.
Responsibilities can include:
Reviewing plans and specifications for construction site field observationsUse Metafield and other systems for daily documentation of field activities, observations, and testing resultsCalibrating equipmentConducting Special Inspection per IBCCommunicating daily with stakeholders and mentor/train construction staffServing as a Special Inspection agentAssisting project managers in plan and spec review and resolving deviationsRequired Qualifications:
High School diploma/GEDMinimum of 5 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materialsTwo or More Active Certification(s):American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician - NICET: Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils) - International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils) - DOT specific in the fields of Aggregate, Density, Asphalt, and ConcreteWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditionsWalking over rough and uneven terrainStanding up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasionRoutinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sitesTraveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessaryWorking outside of normal business hours when necessaryWhy SandME:
