Working/Functional TitleSenior Cognos Developer
Position SummaryThe Reporting Services team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and administering the University's Enterprise Reporting and Analytics platform, including IBM Cognos Analytics, Tableau, Power BI Server, and Azure Analysis Services components.
Reporting to the Reporting Services Manger, the Senior Cognos Developer will act as an expert for all things Business Intelligence. This is a dynamic role on an evolving team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and exceptional written and communication skills.
Primary duties for the position include:
Provide ongoing support of reporting and analytics operations in a production environment.Analyze, build, and test models, packages, and reports according to university requirements while performing operational and ticketing triage.Take lead on reporting and analytics projects and initiatives regularly as they arise, including projects of unusually large size and/or complexity.Participate as an active member in the business intelligence lifecycle, gathering requirements, architecting solutions, developing platform content, and maintaining the platform and its contents.Assist with developing and participating in workshops and other training programs as they relate to Business Intelligence.Though primarily a Cognos role, other reporting needs exist inside the team. Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed, including experience overseeing large, complex or critical information technology projects; experience working with enterprise level data sets as well as enterprise reporting and proficiency in SQL development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
